DD and I took the day off on October 2 to spend Noey’s birthday with him and decided to bring Noey to one of our favourite places to hang out way back in our pre-Noey days: Sentosa.
The intention was two-fold — one, to let him use his new tricycle, a birthday gift from his NaiNai and GuMa, and two, introduce him to the sand and the sea. First up, it was off to VivoCity to get him appropriate footware for the beach: Crocs!
These shoes really should only be worn by kids. They look so cute in that ity-bity size! Of course our baby with the giant feet had to buy the more expensive single-sized ones
As an aside: Noey was quite fascinated by the lights and sounds at Vivo. We actually hardly ever bring him to the malls, preferring to bring him outdoors on outings so he’s quite the country bumpkin in that respect. Hee. We figured he has plenty of time to get acquainted with malls here in mall-city Singapore so we’d rather bring him to parks and the pool when we can. Added to the fact that he doesn’t watch any TV, I hope he doesn’t blame us for making him a little suaku!
After a quick shopping trip, it was off to Sentosa! Noey was super excited to see his bike and kept clamouring to get on it. It was a little tricky to steer since the only steering available was being controlled by Noey but with a quick tutorial, our little man was actually able to turn the handlebars whenever we said “Turn!” and that actually came in rather handy. Now to get him to master “Straight!”…
Staring intently at the monkeys at the Animal & Bird Encounter area.
Birds! My little Ornithologist to be is utterly distracted from the boring camera
Next we headed off to the beach but got utterly side-tracked and derailed by the little water play area in front of the food court near Palawan Beach. Noey started gesturing excitedly towards it so we decided to let him have some water play.
Once we stepped in, he wasn’t so enthusiastic and started clinging to me.
Going the whole hog and actualy sticking his fingers into the holes from which the jets of water spring! Was trying to pull him away without much success and hoping that he wouldn’t get a face full of water when the water shoots up. (He didn’t.)
What are you doing there Papa? Come join in the fun!
After I had enough of a soaking — one jet of water did unfortunately hit ME in the face even if it didn’t hit Noey, we pulled him out and whaddya know, Noey found the fruit stall. So he got to end off his play sesh with some yummy fruit.
After all that, Noey was zoning out since it was past his usual nap time, so we decided to call it a day. It looks like Noey’s first encounter with sand will have to be in Bintan when we’re there in 2 weeks!
