Adventures into Reading
Somehow, I don't think my son is that into reading.Into books, maybe, but reading, not so much. ... read more
The New Beginning
Before Noey's arrival I had a keen interest in the US Presidential elections, following the news on the primaries, the conventions, and the endless commentaries. By the time the election rolled round, a certain little mister had made his appearance, but I still managed to watch the live results on TV. Last night I missed the inauguration. Such is life when it's overtaken by another little life. Hello Mr President. I hope the Obama years will be significant and remembered for the right reasons in ... read more
Sleeeeeep
For the first time last night, Noah slept through the night. Woo hoo! There. Just felt like I wanted to put that on record so I know it actually happened. I'd been waiting for it, more so since my milk supply seems to have regulated itself somewhat and I don't have to worry about getting mega painful engorgement at night if he doesn't wake up to feed. (Too many bad experiences of sitting by his cot at 5am wondering if he's going to wake up soooon cos I was in paaaaaain! But more on that in ... read more
Giggles
The loveliest days are the simplest kinds. We went for a walk in the Botanic Gardens on Sunday evening where:DD got to sling Noey...Noey got to have a snooze...and DD and I therefore got to have a proper conversation about nothing in particular for an extended period of time.I also got to take a photo ALONE (not that I really wanted to though!)And when Noey woke up, he got to chew on his hand. But the highlight of the evening were the giggles.(Unfortunately I only had my phone handy so the quality ... read more
Sticky Baby
I thought it would not happen quite so soon since I faithfully let all and sundry carry Noah (well, almost), but recently, he seems to have developed a stickiness for me. Fortunately it's only in the evening when he's tired and cranky and needs to sleep. Unfortunately the evening is the only time when DD would actually be home to help carry him. As a result, even when DD's home, I'm still the one stuck carrying Noey. Hmmm.At first I thought it was a one-off thing and left him with DD on Thursday ... read more
On A Hunger Strike
As they say, be careful what you wish for. We were just complainingcommenting on how heavy Noah's been getting, and suddenly over the past few days, he seems to have gone on a hungry strike, taking shorter feeds and refusing feeds at his usual intervals throughout the day.I wouldn't normally be too concerned except in the meantime, my supply seems to have gone down. Argh! Never would I have thought that I would be so unhappy to not regularly feel engorgement! DD thinks I'm worrying about nothing ... read more
Three Months
You're 3 months old! This is late and will be later still by the time I post it. Forgive me -- you take up a lot of my time on a daily basis so this blog has to take a back seat. And you're really the centre of all attention these days. I feel both like 3 months has passed too quickly and yet like you've been in our lives for a long time. It's funny that. This was a busy month for you, with Christmas and all its festivities. Your first Christmas! I think you must have wondered what all the fuss ... read more
Rolling Stone
In the latest of developmental milestones, Noah rolled over today! From his back onto his tummy. He'd been all cranky on me and I was getting tired of carrying him so I'd laid him on my bed and lay down beside him to yabber at him to try to distract him from the fact that he was lying down. I guess in his desire to get away from me he turned unto his side and kept going till he plopped over unto his tummy. The first time he kinda got stuck after turning over with his arm under him. The next time ... read more
Eagle Eye
Of all the changes to my body post-pregnancy, the one thing I did not expect was for my eyesight to improve! But it apparently has. We'd trooped down to my family optician on New Year's Day to get DD new specs and I thought I should get my eyes checked out as well since it'd been a while since the last time. And whaddya know, my power is down by 75 degrees on my left eye and 50 on my right. Woo hoo! Considering my power has actually been pretty stable since I first started wearing spectacles 20 ... read more
