During the recent September school holidays, we took a day out to make our regular holiday “pilgrimage” to where else but Legoland Malaysia! We made our first trip to Legoland in Oct 2012 on Noey’s birthday, shortly after it threw open its doors, and since then, there’s been no turning back. It has remained the favourite theme park of the whole family, with something for everyone from the youngest family member to the young at heart! (There’s just no saying no to Lego in this ... read more
Original Sprout: Worry-Free Luxury Bath & Body Products
When it comes to bath and body products, there’s soap, which is basically what I grew up using. Then there’s really nice skincare, like Original Sprout which my lucky kids get to use. There are many things I like about Original Sprout, starting with the fact that it only contains what the brand terms “worry-free ingredients”. These are not only all-natural, but have also been carefully selected to ensure that they are safe for the whole family. With concerns that cancer and early puberty are ... read more
Easy Yummy Crisp Fluffy Waffles
(What a title, but it’s the truth!) Ah, waffles. Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. What’s there not to love? The kids and I can eat waffles pretty much any time, anywhere, and one of our favourite spots for a waffle fix is Crown Bakery & Cafe. Their buttermilk waffles are always a delicious treat. I was happy to make a drive out for a waffle treat every once in a while. But when I saw the cute Vitatonio Multi Waffle Baker on sale by the ladies at Cote Maison, I started ... read more
Red Riding Hood 小红帽
After a number of years of attending theatre performances, I now know that that when SRT stages a Chinese play, I should make plans to go watch it. Because past experience that it will be something that the whole family will enjoy. 小红帽 was no exception. I think like most English-speaking parents, I have tried ways and means to interest my children in the Chinese language, with varying levels of success. Mei has always demonstrated a keener interest and greater willingness to read and use the ... read more
Baby Nate’s Birth Story: Ready Or Not, Here I Come!
Baby Nate's birth story actually starts with this poor forgotten blog. Because the one night I decide to finally stay up and write, he decides to make an appearance too! I’ve not been writing much in this space over the past year. I guess after blogging for 12 years, I’ve lost a bit of the desire to write. But because so much of my life has been captured here in this space, I had the nagging feeling all through my pregnancy that I had to make a note of it before it was all over! Taken on ... read more
Shopping to Save with Honestbee Family Market
Hands up, those who, like me, love online shopping. (Who doesn’t, right?) When you shop online, you get to browse different shops and through a wide inventory without once having to get out of your seat. Or out of bed even, if that’s the way you roll! Click, click, click, and the items get delivered to your doorstep. It’s perfect. However, while I am such an online shopping regular that I’ve memorised my credit card and CVV numbers, until recently, I did not do my grocery shopping online. ... read more
Welcome to the Family, Baby Nate
We are proud to introduce our latest addition, Baby Nate. This little man came unexpectedly early on 26 April at 38 weeks and 2 days. I thought he might be early, but not this early! Guess I was not meant to have my May baby after all! Birth story to come soon, but in the meantime, we are soaking up his baby-ness and loving every minute of it. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I could remember how to care for a newborn any more. It’s all coming back to me… though not always immediately! The first ... read more
Having Baby #3
I haven't made a mention of it here on this here (on my sadly neglected blog!) but if you follow me over on Instagram, you'll probably have heard that we are expecting a new addition to the family this year. Really soon in fact, with my EDD fast approaching in early-May! I've actually kept rather quiet about this pregnancy, choosing to wearing my regular clothes for most of the initial months till the turn of the year. Loose fits and stretchy waists were my friends! But by January, about 5 ... read more
Enjoying Crazy Classics with Sid Bowfin
I love bringing the children for live performances and musical acts are probably my favourite. I think there is something about music that adds such a dimension to life. I’ve never been a good about learning music (and am still not a great pianist despite spending most of my childhood learning to play!) but listening to great performers take to the stage, I love. I’m always on the lookout for engaging musical performances and my ears pricked up when I heard of Crazy Classics with Sid Bowfin. ... read more
CNY 2017 Snapshots
As we wind down Chinese New Year, I must confess I am glad to see the back of it. I’ve had a torrid time this year for reasons unrelated to the actual festivities (for once!!) but nonetheless due to family. I guess family relationships are always tricky things. Unlike friends, you can’t choose your family and for better or for worse, you’ve just got to work it through. Or better yet, hope the issues blow over and go away. (Spoken like a true ostrich, I’ll admit!) But trials aside, I genuinely ... read more
