It has been an interesting week for me.On Monday, a friend contacted me to ask if I would be free at short notice to help her out with a project for a couple of days. Super short notice in fact, as she needed me to be in her office that very same afternoon.I decided to go for it. An opportunity like that doesn't come very often, and I thought it might be fun to be part of the working world for a bit.My mug which my girlfriends gave to me for my birthday, which they declared perfect for the ... read more
Building Fun with Citiblocs
Here's something I wish I was able to bring with me on holiday: Citiblocs. My kids and I were introduced to Citiblocs by Pamela from My First Games, and I was immediately drawn to them because it is a toy offers boundless scope for creative play. Just the type of toy I love to buy for the kids. There are plenty of toys that have just one function, but I dare say it's the toys that you can make into anything that you want that grow with you and that you will keep coming back to.(I guess it ... read more
Sydney 2013: Sydney Aquarium
The Sea Life Sydney Aquarium is one of my favourite attractions in Sydney. And I'm not even a huge fan of aquariums, or marine life, for that matter. It's my husband who loves them, and I guess that has rubbed off on all of us somewhat.(Don't ask me why I'm the one with the diving licence and not him!)Anyway, since I was in Sydney with the kids, the Aquarium was a must, so off we went.As with all attractions in Sydney, and it seems Australia, entry prices are pretty steep so if you do intend to ... read more
Sydney 2013: Australian National Maritime Museum
I was in two minds about whether to blog about my London holiday or our current Sydney adventures. Really #firstworldproblems huh! It's going to be Sydney first so that the kids' and this blog's biggest fan, aka my husband, gets to see what we get up to.So first up is the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour. This wasn't on my list of things to do, but Aunty Jud suggested it, and the prospect of being able to board some actual vessels to take a look around sounded really ... read more
Sydney 2013: Home Away From Home
So I was going to kick off my London posts, except that I am currently in Sydney.Yes, you heard me right. SYDNEY. It felt like we were barely home before we took off in the opposite direction huh.It was, in all honesty, a spur-of-the-moment trip. The haze situation was getting unbearable towards the end of last week and with the awful smell giving me a headache, I agreed to DD's suggestion to take off for Sydney with the two children to hide out at my in-laws' for a bit. It wasn't an easy ... read more
Blender Orange Cake
You might have noticed my new blender in my previous post.I was recently given the opportunity to test out the new Philips Jamie Oliver Blender, one of the new products in the Philips range. I must admit that the machine I really wanted to try was the Philips Jamie Oliver Food Processor. Who wouldn't want a machine that does purports to do everything, right? I think a blender immediately brings to mind smoothies, maybe soups, and… not much else. But as I started to flip through my recipe books ... read more
We Love Zoku-ing Hot Days Away!
Hot muggy days are popsicle days!I bought a Zoku Quick Pop-Maker from mommygrabs.com during a flash sale about 2 months ago, and since then we've been enjoying lots of ice lollies on hot days. Another mummy friend told me that ice lollies have been a great way to get kids to take in more fluids during these hot and hazy days, and I must agree! These go down in no time! The best thing about the Zoku is that the pops are made in minutes. You do have to freeze the pop-maker overnight first, but I ... read more
Enjoy a Flight of Fancy at Gardens by the Bay
It's been long and difficult week for everyone, with the haze rising to unprecedented PSI levels. I don't know about you, but at certain times, it felt almost apocalyptic. We stayed indoors a lot, though not necessarily at home. It's me - I just don't like being cooped up at home, especially with two restless kids! I did that one day last week and was more tired than ever from the number of activities that I had to do with my one-idea-a-minute kids. Not my idea of fun!I hope everyone is enjoying ... read more
Mussels Provençale
I have this huge love affair with shellfish. I just can't get enough of it!I can't remember when I first had mussels, but I do remember where I enjoyed some of the best ones. There were those I had in Belgium, of course. The term Mussels from Brussels ain't for nothing. Even when visiting as poor students, we still managed to try pots of delicious moules at cafes in Brussels. So good. There were also those I had at Belgo in the UK. This was in part due to a superb little promotion that they had ... read more
A Boy and His Buds
We've not managed to do a lot since returning for London, what with jet lag, and now the haze impeding our adventures out of the house. But I'm glad we managed to drag ourselves out of the house for a playmate with some of Noey's school pals last week. Noey wasn't 100% after having a bit of a stomach flu a few days earlier, but he perked up when I told him we were going to meet his classmates. I just love this photo of them that another Mum took. I can almost see them as teenagers ... read more
