My Almost 2-Year Old and The Things She Says
Naomi is at that precious age right now where everything she says and does is incredibly cute. She's a real chatterbox, this one, and here are some gems she's come up with lately.#1 When she and Noey were arguing, both insisting that they were "the boss":"I the saur-saur T-rex boss!"I thought she won.#2 When I accidentally flicked the switch for the socket with my elbow:"It's dangerous. You cannot touch that, ok Mummy?" (complete with stern look)Yes my little 1-year-old going on 10!#3 When I ... read more
“I Love You The Most!”
My dearest little son is a real Mummy's boy, and if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that he loves his Mama. "I love you, Mummy," he said with conviction one night some weeks back. "I love you the most.""Oh, really!" I said, teasingly. "Do you mean that you love me more than Mei-mei loves me? Or that you love me more than you love Mei-mei?""I love you more than Mei-mei loves you," he said. "I love you THE MOST!""I don't know about that, Noey. Papa loves me too, and he loves me a lot," I ... read more
Chocolate Mousse
Naomi's birthday is next Saturday. Tick tock. The venue has been booked and the invites sent but I've been dragging my feet about everything else! This week is when I really need to get cracking.I'm toying with the idea of putting together a mini dessert table for the kids and one of the recipes I'm considering is this Dark Chocolate Mousse. This was one of the recipes I learnt at a cooking class at ToTT and it really was as straight-forward as it was touted, though you do need to set aside time ... read more

蛇年:初二 Maccers Morning
I think nothing says lazy morning like having Macs for breakfast. I got many happy memories wrapped up in the golden arches. Definitely my Dad's doing there. We've had different favourite outlets over the years, but one of my favourite long-standing ones is the Farrer Road branch. Admittedly, it feels a lot less green than I remember it to be during my childhood. But I still like it for the outdoor space and that little pond that they have up front. My kids like the stuffy play structure at the ... read more
Huayi 华艺节 2013
I brought Naomi on a walk around the Esplanade on Friday morning and chanced on the fact that Huayi, the Esplanade's Chinese Festival of Arts was about to kick off that very day.Oo, so many programmes to watch! One of the three annual cultural festivals organised by the Esplanade, Huayi neatly ties in with Chinese New Year festivities, showcasing the works of Chinese artists of all genres. In addition to the ticketed shows, I noted that there were quite a number of free programmes held at the ... read more
Strawberry Hearts for Valentine’s
Yesterday was Valentine's Day. It's really a bit of a non-event around our home. But this year, seeing as the kids are a bit older, I thought it would be nice to introduce them to the concept of a day where we celebrate those we love. 'Twas a good idea I think, because I rarely receive that many declarations of "I love you Mummy!" in a day! We made a couple of simple cards for Papa -- thanks Dana's Mommy for the inspiration! Naomi's was a simple "I LOVE PAPA" that she and I worked ... read more
蛇年:初一
The first day of Chinese New Year is the most tiring day of our whole year every year. Add to that the fact that we were attempting to squeeze in church before all the visiting, it would come as no surprise that we were kind of dreading the day!But the show had to go on.At least it gives me an opportunity to put my kids in cute clothes and take lots of pics of them! This year they were togged out in matching outfits from Elly that I was particularly pleased about.Definitely had more than my dose ... read more
蛇年:Reunion
新年快乐 everyone! I hope your start to the year of the snake has been a good one!I'm starting our annual re-count of a fairly hectic season with one of my favourite parts of Chinese New Year -- the Reunion. We continued a tradition which we started the last year, with us hosting the reunion at our place. It's not that big a deal really, since it's just DD's immediate family, but I was pretty happy to have the opportunity to do steamboat my way. That means soup stock the way I like it -- chicken ... read more
