Here's a fun post for the weekend. You have seen our Lego representatives for the NDP, but I thought I'd also show you our "real" Lego family, which my husband put together some time back. Here are Papa and Mama:And Noey and Nomi: Some details which you might not have realised: #1 - These minifigs have a beige skin tone instead of the standard Lego yellow. When I commented on this to DD, he also merrily informed me that he had to procure beige hands to match. Seriously, I didn't know such things ... read more
We Haz Tadpoles!
We have some new pets, and the kids are fascinated.Say hello to our new, erm, tadpoles.Mummy Selena sent out an appeal in a Facebook group I am part of, asking if there were any takers for some excess tadpoles that she had on her hands. I went to pick up a batch, thinking that it would be a great opportunity for Noey to observe the lifecycle of the frog. I honestly think that seeing tadpoles morph into frogs is most fascinating, once we get over the ick factor of it all. Hah. As it happens, the ... read more
MyEcoBabe
I have a deep admiration for mumpreneurs - mums who decide to stop being employees and start their own business when baby comes along. Most mumpreneurs I know do this because they can better manage their time, and therefore, spend more time with their family, while continuing to contribute to the family income and keep themselves in touch with the commercial world beyond the confines of home. I think it's such a great way to try to achieve better work-life balance.I recently got to know Sherlyn, ... read more
Motherhood: Before and After
I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that life B.C (Before Conception) of my children and A.D (After Delivery) are vastly different. When Jus first asked the question of how motherhood has changed my life, what immediately popped into my mind were pictures, like this one:I'm guest blogging over at Mum in the Making today, as part of a series of posts on motherhood that Jus is hosting on her site. For two weeks in July and another two weeks in September, different Mum Bloggers will be sharing on how ... read more
Doc McStuffins: The Doctor Is In!
A new series will be premiering on Disney Junior next week - Doc McStuffins!Doc McStuffins is a cute little girl who is a toy doctor, fixing broken toys and making them "well" again. With the help of her toys an overly proud stuffed dragon (Stuffy), a stuffed lamb who loves to cuddle (Lambie), a jolly hippo receptionist (Hallie) and a hypochondriac stuffed snowman (Chilly), Doc McStuffins runs a doctor's clinic for toys out of her playhouse. We were invited to a preview of the series on Wednesday ... read more
Charley T’s at 112 Katong
Last week, Noey and I were invited to sample the food at Charly T's, a casual dining restaurant located at 112 Katong.Upon receiving the invitation, I was intrigued, in part because I am a total tourist when it comes to the eastern part of Singapore. DD grew up living in Jurong, and me in the North, Central and then far West of Singapore. We studied in schools in the central area and when it came to setting up a home of our own, that's the area we plumped for as well. So the East could be a ... read more
12 Years Together
On 22 June 2012, DD and I marked 12 years together as a couple. Even as I write this, I can't believe it's been that long!DD and I were friends for 2, nearly 3 years before we got together and I like to think that that friendship still underscores our relationship, even now as husband and wife. Life is very different now from the days when we were carefree students in University, where we first met. And as parents, I think that our own relationship has taken a backseat as family time takes ... read more
Building a Loving SG with Lego
I love the National Day Parade. Cheesy but true.I didn't manage to get tickets to the parade again this year, and it seems unlikely that we'll do a National Day Staycation this year since DD has a major work deadlines on the Monday just after National Day. Looks like the closest we'll be getting to the parade this year is the TV. So I perked up when I learnt from S that this year, the organizers have re-created the Marina Bay Floating Platform out of Lego, and that for a minimum donation of $5, ... read more
Children’s Season 2012: Art Garden at SAM
One of the places we managed to check out during the June holidays was the Art Garden at the Singapore Art Museum. This is usually the best event for Children's Season and I think this year was no exception. We had hoped to make it a playmate with friends but plans fell through and we went on our own. But the kids had fun, so I'm glad we made it.Hello Walter! After a stint at the main museum building last year, Art Garden has shifted back to 8Q this year. We didn't realize that, so spent some ... read more
The Nursery Term 2 PTM
The school cycle has started again. It's Term 3, and incidentally, this marks the end of Noey's first full year of school, and the start of his second.I guess it was appropriate that at the end of Term 2, DD and I attended our first Parent-Teacher Meeting as parents. I used to feel the utmost dread for such meetings as a student, and I foresee that my son will be following in my footsteps in this regard. Hah.Excitedly showing Papa his work, before we got down to talking to his teachers.I read ... read more
