On 31 May, my day consisted of:Gurgly baby smiles, just like this one, to start the dayA yummy lunch treat at Akashi Orchard, from a dear friend, with lots of satisfying girly talk(No photo because I forgot my camera!)Happy toes! The first pedi I've had in a long time!A great view, at Salt, the venue of my "surprise" dinner for the night. We tried to locate my old home, or at least the plot of land it once stood on since it's since been redeveloped.Cocktails! Took advantage of the fact that I ... read more
The Blessed Sound of Self-Soothing
Speaking of fingers in the mouth...Nom nom nom...we've got a little fist-sucker in our midst. And my, the lip-smacking sounds she makes! Totally makes me want to have a piece of that fist myself. However, unlike Noey's finger licking, this fist sucking is totally welcome in my books because it allows little Nomi to put herself right to sleep at night. Having a son who still needs me to lie beside him for a good amount of time before he falls asleep, you can imagine how excited this makes me! ... read more
Fingers Out!
Another sign that Noey is just a chip off the old block (ie. me)Nail biting is a bad, bad habit of mine which I have to rid myself of. It manifests especially when I am nervous. Now DD keeps giving me these looks when Noey can't keep his fingers out of his mouth. Yearrrgh. My bad, I know. I wonder if it's genetic or is it my bad example?Whatever the case, I've been actively trying to get him to stop with minimal NO success. Obviously the repeated command -- "Don't put your fingers in your ... read more
Only by Grace
There are days when I feel waxing lyrical about my kids.Today, not so much. With my babies on Mother's Day, frazzled smile intact.Today was one of those days where Noey decided to object to almost everything I wanted him to do, to challenge my authority. And even though he did not want listen nor obey any instruction I gave him, it was still only Mummy he wanted for most of the day, except for those blessed hours when his Ah Kong came to visit and Papa came home to bring him out to run off the ... read more
Starting the Reading Journey
Lately, I've been thinking that I should start Noey on the journey to reading on his own.2 events that happened over the past week have led me to that conclusion: DD was taking photos of Noey in his room when he (Noey) sauntered over to his Papa and stopped at the lens cap on the floor."C-A-N-O-N", he said, spelling the word out loud. "Ca...ca...ca", he said, making the sound of the letter "c". "Ca... Camera!" he declared.DD applauded him for the good attempt.******We were reading Noey his Bible ... read more
Tummy Time!
How am I doing Mummy? You look funny from this angle."What are you doing Mei-mei?"(Incidentally, we would not be surprised if those were Nomi's first words, considering how often she hears them!)Noey also offers a helping hand, which I'm sure Nomi could do without! ... read more
Nursing Glam Does Exist
When my sister first fixed her wedding date, I must admit that one of the biggest concerns I had was how I would be able to lose the postpartum weight and get back in shape quick enough to look good for the occasion. Add to that the fact that my dress also had to be nursing friendly, I was understandably nervous. Going shopping in the couple of weeks leading up to the wedding made me feel even worse. When I stepped into the usual chain stores, the sales assistants sized me up (so to speak) and ... read more
Daddy’s Mini Me
If you thought that Noah looked like me, well, here's proof that Naomi is her Daddy's daughter.DD as an infant, with his GrandmaAn older DD, this time with his Mum.I'm too lazy to pull up Nomi's pics to do a side by side comparison, but I think the likeness is obvious.Despite previously feeling a bit disappointed that Noey does not look so much like him, DD isn't as thrilled with the fact that little Nomi is his mini-me. He's instead a little distressed that it is the girl who has inherited his ... read more
Pretty in Blue
Everyone has said it and it's true: little girls are so much more fun to dress!(I bought Naomi's outfits for the wedding day and dinner before she was born. Up till the week before the wedding, she was the only one with any wedding clothes at all in our family!) ... read more
Our Wedding of the Year
Wedding weekend for my family is finally over. My sister is officially married! With the beautiful bride. I really shouldn't stoop when I'm already SO SHORT.The wedding went really well, cos while my sister was a rather bo chup bride, everyone around her really wasn't! If you know my sister, you'll know that she's an incredibly lovely person with a really fun side, and I think that shone through and made the whole occasion special and truly "her".As for Noey, I was first of all relieved that he ... read more
