Our first family pic for the year, taken at the Airport! We didn't intentionally set out to do things differently in the new year, but after the rain spoilt our plans to go to Sentosa for some time on the beach, we found ourselves heading, of all places, to the airport on a random excursion.(We figured that if the Easties love to just go to the airport for fun so much, there's got to be a reason!)Of course we'd forgotten that the airport is HUGE. And I am very pregnant. Suffice to say, I was ... read more
27 Months
Hey there my little man,I wanted to start the year with a letter to you because it seems like I just haven't written one to you and about you for some time. Over the past year you have blossomed and grown so much that I'm far too busy talking and doing stuff with you to sit down and write. (That and the fact that you just would not let me use my laptop in peace when you're awake.) But I know I must find some time to jot some of these things down, things about you, before this all too fleeting ... read more
New Year, New Goals, New Resolutions
We ushered in 2011 in the quiet of our home, our third quiet New Year's Eve in a row. At least this time it was better than the previous New Year's Eve, where I distinctly remember celebrating the turn of the year on my own with the TV for company as DD and Noey snoozed away. This year, DD and I put Noey to sleep and then we sat around and just talked, about the year that passed and the year that is ahead. And as it got close to the midnight witching hour, we turned on the TV for the countdown. ... read more
30 Weeks
We ended the year with a peek at our little Mei-Mei on 30 Dec 2010. I'm officially 30 weeks and really feeling it! I not-very-wisely brought Noey to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden in the morning, thinking that I could manage a nice walk and Noey could entertain himself at the treehouse slide. This past week, it has always rained when I've wanted to bring him out so I just wanted to do something with him that he'd enjoy. We did have a nice walk, checking out the suspension bridge, the waterfall, ... read more
2010: Year In Review
I was at a lost over how to recap on the year when I came across this list and thought it would be a good place to start!1. Where did you ring in 2010?I actually can't remember, which means I was, in all likelihood, at home with both DD and Noey asleep in bed and me tap-tap-tapping my year-end round-up on my laptop. Hmmm, sounds like what I did this year, except that DD was awake! I really should plan something more exciting next year.2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you ... read more
Christmas Round-Up
How was Christmas for you this year?We had a quiet one, and I can't say that it was most ideal. I do so love parties and gatherings, but seeing as some of my nearest and dearest friends are not around this year, and our church doesn't do Christmas, plus the fact that I am somewhat unwieldy myself in my current state, I didn't plan or organise any parties of my own. Ah well. Still, we did manage to have some of our time-honoured and favourite family get-togethers, which are always good fun. The ... read more

Riding Around & Lighting Up The Town
A couple of weeks ago, we got the opportunity to check out the Christmas light-up in town from a different vantage point: the top of an open-top bus.My dear sister was scheduled to take her pre-wedding photos this month and since she has always been a fan of streets dressed up in fairy lights, she decided that the Christmas light-up would be a perfect backdrop to her photos (no matter that, as my mother pointed out, her wedding is going to be in April and would have nothing to do with ... read more
Smartypants
Noey and I had this exchange early on Thursday morning:"Come Noey, let's go take off your diaper and change your pants." "Dowan! Want to wear this pants!""If you don't take off your diaper, it'll be itchy. Come, let's go change your pants.""Dowan! Go take another book."Ah hah, I sensed an opening. "Alright," I said, "let's go and take another book."Noey didn't budge. "Go take another book," he said looking me in the eye, "without changing pants."Dang! He's barely past 2 and he's outsmarting ... read more
Peranakan Food Challenge: Ayam Sambal
To ease myself into cooking food that I've essentially not tried cooking before, I flipped through the books to find something that wasn't too difficult to start with. The introduction to the Ayam Sambal recipe gave me what I was looking for: "This is a very easy dish to prepare although it does require the preparation of a rempah. Voila. Ayam Sambal it was.I ran into a few hitches along the way, as you would expect. The first problem was the fact that I couldn't find any fresh red chillis at ... read more
