Another weekend, another brunch place!
This time it was because the husband had a full-day course on a Saturday morning, leaving me to figure out what to do with the kids. I decided it’d be a good opportunity to meet up with the gramps so brunch it was! Now, my parents generally get a bit stressed going out with me and my active kids so I thought it would be best to bring everyone to a place where the children would be free to expend some energy when they needed to. I’ve known of District 10 and their kid-friendly weekend brunch for a while but had not had the opportunity to visit. Seemed like the perfect time had arrived!
We popped down to the UE Square branch nice and early at 10.30am and found that we were the only ones there at that time. The kids’ eyes lit up with they spotted the bouncy castle. They needed no invitation! We settled in and they immediately ran to play. While I saw a sign that said that the operating hours of the bouncy castle were from 11.30am, they did not stop the kids from getting started early, which was great for my two since they had free rein over the whole space.
Off they go!
Bounce bounce bounce!
The only way to come down slides AKA the wrong way
Needless to say, it was a rather peaceful brunch. I was able to chat with my parents while the played, ate, then went back to play some more. We were also free to enjoy our yummy food, which I must say was pretty satisfying. Thinking that Mei would want to share my food, I ordered the Farmer’s Style Breakfast. It had the works — eggs, grilled tomato, bacon, mushroom, hash brown, toast and snail sausage. It was good and I really enjoyed it.
Farmer’s Style Breakfast ($22).
It was a lot though because Mei didn’t want to share the food with me and I ended up having to eat the whole thing! I could barely finish it (and I don’t have a small appetite.) My daddy had an Eggs Benedict which he enjoyed. It certainly looked delicious too. My mum told me there was “no need to take” her Philly Cheese Steak sandwich because it wasn’t as photogenic. Haha. But she did like it and finished the whole thing.

District 10 actually offers a kid’s menu but knowing what waffle fiends they are, I suggested that they take the Belgian Waffle. When it arrived, I immediately regretted not ordering it for myself. Served with berries, walnuts, and ricotta cheese, and drizzled with wild honey, this waffle was absolutely beautiful, and tasted as good as it looked. I only got a teensy bite. The rest was cleaned up by my kids. They also really enjoyed the ricotta, which Noey actually thought was fresh cream. I didn’t tell them that the ricotta was cheese because I thought they might not even try it if they knew but they ended up really liking it. I think the next time we go there, I’m getting a waffle for myself too.

District 10 also has a kids menu (which cleverly doubles up as a colouring sheet!) but I think the kids made a good choice with the waffle instead!
We left at around 12pm and by then, the restaurant and bouncy castle had started to fill up, with many patrons looking like they had come from the DBS Arts Centre just across the road. So my advice to you if you intend to go is — go early!
An easy, breezy, brunch to start the morning. Just what the doctor ordered!
