One of the real joys of having a child is watching them grow and develop day by day into a real person. (Of course they are real people from the word go, but you know what I mean.)
I am constantly amazed by how a child’s mind learns and processes information. Like this morning when Noey clambered over to our tissue box and examined the picture on the side, which was a drawing by a primary school student in a Beautex art competition, and identified the birds drawn as “Bird!”. I managed to find a copy of the picture online and it looks like this:

These are a child’s renditions of birds which look nothing like the real thing, and the bird he had pointed to (sitting on the girl’s finger) also had no wings, which makes me wonder: Why did he identify it as a bird? How does he look at sketches of birds, photographs, illustrations, outlines and identify them as the same thing? The human brain is truly a complex thing and to me, it is yet another sign of the magnificence of God’s creation.
Then there’s also the development of personality, which Noey is showing a bit more of everyday. One aspect of this is a sense of humour. As Daph rather aptly put it, “kids all have male humour” and with Noey that is definitely the case! Apart from laughing at random slapstick moments, he’s also taken to amusing himself and laughing out loud at his own antics. These range from the bizarre, like pretending to eat his Papa’s leg hair:
(Noey was actually chortling along to this but I whipped out the camera a bit late and didn’t manage to catch many of his giggles.)
To the really cute, like blabbering nonsense:
With Noey around, I feel like I’m learning new things everyday too, in particular how we are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made.

I love how you wrote this post. Indeed, we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. And what a blessing for us to have been given the opportunity to see that with the growth of our children 🙂

Daph :: He's still doing it everytime he notices DD's leg! It's SO weird.
