To Noey:
A list of seven of those small moments that make it so worthwhile being a Mummy, your Mummy. They wouldn’t ordinarily make it to the baby book but it makes them no less precious.
One: Last Friday when your Papa came back from work, you walked happily to him and greeted him with a loud (and clear) “Papa!”. It totally made his day. It made mine too, seeing how happy he was at that point after enduring a long hard week at work.
Two: On Saturday morning, after we’d bundled you out of the bath, your Papa let loose a loud audible fart. You immediately copied the sound by blowing a loud raspberry. “BRRRRRRR!” We laughed hard and you laughed too, trying to join in though I’m sure you had no idea what we found so funny.
Three: A week back, on a Friday morning while I was at work, there were apparently loud claps of thunder which made you cry. When I came home, you came to me and started to gesture at the window, while going “OOoooo!” repeatedly. Your NaiNai said you were trying to tell me about the thunder. I think you were too. Don’t be afraid of the thunder, baby. God who made you made that too.
Four: Just a couple of nights ago, you woke up around midnight, looked around drowsily, and then grabbed my leg and fell asleep hugging it. I am your human bolster, and while it annoys me when I’m trying to get some sleep, inside, I love that you find security holding me.
Five: Your sleeping positions are an endless source of entertainment for us. One night, Papa came out of the bath to find you sleeping like this:
It totally cracked us up. You eventually woke up and complained, of course.
Six: Last week, I showed you how to put coins into the Piggy Bank and after dropping the coin into the Piggy Bank, you looked under the pig, wondering where the coin went. And you did this with your serious face, the same one you have whenever you study objects. It was too cute.
Seven: There was this day when you wanted woke up from a nap and wanted to nurse yourself back to sleep. I didn’t want you to cos it was late and you had taken a long nap. All I had to do was say “Noey, shall we go look at the birds?” and immediately, you opened your eyes and unlatched yourself, milk and sleep forgotten. You love looking for birds outside the window. Your non-bird/animal loving mummy can’t understand why!
These days are full as we make memories together. Thank you for spending them with me.
