There are many mall shows going on around town for this holiday but there was only one that my kids had eyes for: The Chuggington Winter Snow Party at City Square Mall. Yes, both my kids are fans of the chuggers and I just knew they’d be thrilled to see Koko, Wilson and Brewster in the flesh. (Well, kind of, but you know what I mean!) The Chuggington show was in tow a couple of years ago and back then we didn’t manage to catch it then so I knew we couldn’t miss it this time.
We were not the only ones who were keen to see the chuggers. We were there on a Saturday evening and the whole atrium and the floors above were packed with expectant little kids, their parents and other curious onlookers. The kids were amused when Morgan and Lori bounced on stage to lead the audience in some warm-up activities, but when the doors rolled up and the chuggers made their appearance, their eyes nearly fell out of their heads. Even I thought the trains looked impressive — they were huge and looked just like you would expect them to if they stepped off the screen.
Together with Morgan and Lori, the chuggers put on a fun show about Christmas that carried the important message of recycling and caring for the environment. That was really up naturalist Noey’s alley! There was lots of singing and dancing that got the kids moving to the beat too. And right at the end there’s a magical snowfall, the the kids’ delight. Do note that the “snow” falls on the centre and right sections of the stage. Alas, we were on the extreme left, so none of it got to us and we could only watching the falling “snow” from afar.
The great part was the left side of the stage was where the meet-and-greet queue was, so we were able to quickly hop in place for our opportunity to meet Koko, Wilson, Brewster up close. Both Noey and Mei were so excited to meet the chuggers that they unanimously decided that they did not want me in the photo with them. Humph.
The Chuggington Winter Snow Party is on till 21 Dec so this is the last week to catch the show at City Square Mall. Shows are at 2pm and 7pm on weekdays and 1pm, 4pm and 7pm on weekends. Do go down early as, from the looks of it, this show is very popular! Meet-and-Greet passes are redeemable 1 hour prior to the show with a minimum spending go $50 at City Square Mall. There are only 50 passes available per session and they run out rather quickly.
You can also give the kids a full-on train experience by hopping on the Choo-Choo City Express out front at the City Green. There are also Kiddy Carnival Rides and a nightly Light and Snow Show with Wilson! This is where you want to be for a totally train-tastic time!
