It was our first weekend back from holiday but last Saturday, Mei and I bounced out of bed bright and early for a special date — we were going to have breakfast with Hi-5!

My kids don’t watch much TV but on the occasions that the TV gets turned on, Hi-5 is one of their favourites. The group brings to the stage their unique blend of high energy song and dance which always gets kids on their feet singing and dancing along. I actually quite enjoy watching Hi-5 myself as the songs are rather catchy and I often find myself humming them after the episode is over!
Mei was really excited to go for breakfast, but I think she was rather stunned with Stevie, Ainsely, Dayen, Mary and Tanika arrived. And when Dayen came to sit right next to her, she was speechless. In fact, all the children at our table were! They were so shy they couldn’t look at Dayen! Talk about starstruck! But they slowly got more comfortable, drawn no doubt by Dayen’s warm personality and the genuine interest she took in them. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect before the breakfast and but Dayen was so open and friendly, we were all chatting like old friends very quickly.

By the time the group headed out to play with bubbles, Mei was totally in love with Dayen! She willingly followed Dayen out and hung around her the whole time. Bubbles are always a lot of fun, and the children had a great time playing with the Hi-5 cast who had obviously built a great rapport with them.

All too soon, it was time for the cast to leave. But we are looking forward to meeting them again when Hi-5 return in September with their new show Hi-5 House of Dreams! Unlike their previous shows which are more concert-style performances, Hi-5 House of Dreams will be presented in more of a narrative storytelling format, something that Dayen said she was particularly excited about. Come join Hi-5 in a slumber party with plenty of singing, dancing and adventure when Chats takes control of the Hi-5 dreams and makes their dreams come true. Expect a whimsical trip into a fantasy adventure where you can catch your favourite Hi-5 songs — Underwater Discovery, Move Your Body, It’s a Party and Living in a Rainbow, and plenty of new songs with Hi-5! We are certainly looking forward to !

Hi-5 is also performing some of these songs at United Square Shopping Mall this June holiday with 3 shows daily from 11 June to 23 June at 2.30pm, 5pm and 7pm! No show on Wed 17 June). Spend $50 at the mall and get a meet & greet pass, limited to the first 50 shoppers on a first-come-first-served basis.
