My Aunt dropped by to visit and brought some old photos with her. She'd been cleaning out my Grandmother's old house and came across many albums of me and my cousin (who's just 1 month younger than me) as babies. There was one photograph of me and my Mum that she particularly wanted to show me cos she thought I looked exactly like Little Noah -- or rather, that he looks just like me: Me and my Mum shortly after I was born -- apparently this was taken while we were still in the hospital.Well, I ... read more
An Old Favourite
We brought Noey out to a family favourite for dinner on Saturday. Incidentally this was also where I had my very last meal before he was born. When the owners and staff had asked me that night when the baby was due and I told them it would be anytime, I didn't really expect the next day to be THE DAY. But it was. So now with him just 2 months old, we brought him along to meet everyone. For some reason the boy was on his best behaviour, sitting in his stroller for most of the meal before he needed ... read more
Brothers and Sisters
With all the time I'm spending at home, I've become a bit of a serial TV watcher. And I've been glued over the past few days to Brothers and Sisters -- it's great! Just the type of "talk-talky" show that I love and which puts DD to sleep. Just as well that I'm watching it on my own!Almost makes me want to have a big family with 5 children. Almost. ... read more
Turning Two
2 Months old today and what amazing 2 months they have been. Happy Birthday Baby Noey. I don't think anything really prepared us for your presence and how much you will consume our time and energy, and how much we would come to love you. In the 1st month, we learnt a lot about you and the little person that you are:You love your baths, especially when flipped on your tummy, facing the water. When flipped on your back, not so much. You love sleeping on your tummy on Daddy's chest. Daddy loves that ... read more
Put Your Hand in Mine
With Noah down for the night on Saturday night (at least until his midnight feed), DD and I decided to pop out to the nearby supermarket to stock up on supplies. As we got out of the car on arriving, I reached out for his hand and realised -- wow, I haven't held his hand while out and about in a while! Since one of us is usually carrying baby, an activity that requires both our hands since our dear son only likes to be carried upright and yet can't fully support his head -- we've mostly had our ... read more
Loss
In response to everyone who has asked me - and there were many today - if I knew the victim of the attack: No, I don't, not beyond her being a familiar face in the corridors on campus years ago. But I feel no less sad about the whole incident. It hit pretty close to home, especially since it really could have been someone I knew, or any one of us on a work trip. And looking at my baby now, my heart is heavy for the family. I gave him a kiss and held him close. The world is such a crazy place, ... read more
Mums and Babes
Baby and I have had a busy week, with the playdate last Friday, the wedding on Sunday, our usual jaunt over to my parents' place on Tuesday and the visit with Mich and Sophie on Wednesday. The appointments were good for me but not as much for Noey. Especially after the marathon on church and wedding last Sunday, my poor baby has been rather fragile -- a little clingy-er and more tired. So when the babes asked me along to the mummies and babies gathering on Thursday evening (I don't think that was ... read more

Things Are Getting Better…
Today makes 8 weeks since our little baby first arrived in our lives, and I think I'm slowly getting my groove back. The first 4 weeks were tough, not so much because of Noah -- indeed, he was the bright spot in my life -- but from the disruption to our routine due to there being too many people in our little home: the confinement nanny. parents. the helper. All of whom needed managing. DD and I certainly missed our quiet home as we remembered it.When the confinement nanny left and I found ... read more
Baby Goes Wedding
Against all good advice, we brought Noah for his first wedding yesterday night -- solemnisation and dinner. We got back in one piece, with all our belongings (one hopes! I've yet to do a proper check to be honest), an exhausted baby and 2 worn out parents. My poor little tired babyNoah with Mummy in her bridesmaid fineryCredit to DD for taking care of the rocking, feeding and cuddling duties while I ran around completing my bridesmaid duties, delivering a speech, and moving all our many bags - ... read more
