My heart sank when I woke up to grey skies last Tuesday. It was a rare day when my friends' and my schedules were aligned, and we had a zoo trip planned. I thought we would have to change our plans, but to my surprise, I received word that it wasn't raining in the North in the vicinity of the zoo. I had my doubts, but since I really wanted to be out of the house -- and I'm usually unrealistically optimistic -- I decided to go anyway. As it turned out, it really wasn't raining at the zoo. Instead, ... read more
The Year-End Concert
It is the highlight of every pre-schooler's calendar. Or at least, certainly the highlight for their parents!I am talking about the year-end concert of course.Noey's had his last Saturday and the whole family was looking forward to it. The two sessions were going to put up a play each, with Noey's session attempting the more challenging play in Chinese. It was a nativity story and for weeks we were listening to him attempt to sing at least 3 songs in Chinese, including "Hark the Hearld Angels ... read more
8 is Great
Little Meips, you are 8 months old! I can scarcely believe it. In fact, I still pause whenever anyone asks me how old you are. Time is zipping by all too quickly, and much as 1-2 is my favourite age, I still want to hang on to your baby-ness for a while longer. Especially when you're just so impossibly cute. The most popular item in my cart, though not looking too pleased about it. I couldn't take 3 steps without some auntie at NTUC clucking over you and trying to get your attention. ... read more
Giant Bubbles Save the Day
Is anyone else having cabin fever from being cooped up, no thanks to the recent wet weather? It's been a really wet couple of weeks. It would blaze, sunny and hot most mornings, but by early afternoon, the rain would come. Being cooped up at home and being unable to go downstairs for just a run around is driving us all a little batty. I've been forced to rummage through our stash of emergency toys for something -- anything -- when we are all crawling up the walls in boredom. Something that has ... read more
Getting Arty at Art Bug
I've been toying with the idea of sending Noey for Art classes sometime next year. This little man of mine loves messing around with paint, markers, crayons and the like, so I thought it might be something he would enjoy. Plus I'm hoping that his art skills wouldn't be as non-existent as mine.I was thrilled therefore when I won an Art Bug voucher from Mamawearpapashirt. With that, I signed Noey up for a trial class, which he attended on Monday afternoon.Art Bug is situated at 51 Waterloo Street, ... read more
“How’s It Going?”
It's been a little over a week since I officially left my job.Everyone I meet keeps asking me how it's going. I tell them it's too early to tell, but in all honesty, it's been... FRIGHTFUL.Haha. I guess the good thing is that I more or less expected it to be tough so it's not as if I was caught by surprise. The truth is that this is a difficult period, which is why I am needed at home. DD has been and will continue to be heavily involved in a matter for the next week and the half, so for the ... read more
Home, For Good, For Now
On Monday, I packed up my office desk for the second time in two months. The first time was a month ago when my office shifted out of from its prime almost-on-Orchard-Road space to its new location in Pasir Panjang. Needless to say, the change in location was quite a shock to the system. This second time round is for good. After much deliberation, and with the blessings of my husband, I have decided to call it a day on my time at my current office. It's been nearly 5 years. I will be staying at ... read more
Marking the 6th
Our 6th Wedding Anniversary kind of just crept up on us.In fact, when 22nd Oct first came up in our conversation, it was in the context of it being my new helper's pay day. "That's easy to remember!" quipped DD, referring to the fact that we remember the 22nd of each month as a monthly anniversary. After he said this, there was a slight pause and I could practically hear him totting up the numbers before he turned to me in surprise and proclaimed this particular 22nd would be our 6th Wedding ... read more
On a (Play)Date
As friends, you always hope that your kids learn to play together. I think now, at 3 and with some practice in school, Noey is finally at the stage where he has fun with other children. It took them 3 hours to warm up to each other, but with a dash of extra time and some giddiness from missing their naps, Kristy and Noey became instant best buds for the day. So friendly were they, this playdate evolved into a playDATE, with kisses being exchanged! Oh my. The parents were highly amused. Not to be ... read more
Squiggles on the Fridge
I was very amused when I walked into the kitchen to find this on the fridge:One of Noey's random scribblings that he put up on the fridge himself for all to admire. I was quite impressed that he was careful to make sure that the paper was straight and had carefully secured the corners of the paper with the magnets.Lest you think it's because I often tack up his work, I have to say it really is quite the opposite. For while I tend to be sentimental, I just have too much crap lying around that I ... read more
