Giant Bubbles Save the Day

November 4, 2011 by Mummybean 2 Comments

Is anyone else having cabin fever from being cooped up, no thanks to the recent wet weather?

It’s been a really wet couple of weeks. It would blaze, sunny and hot most mornings, but by early afternoon, the rain would come.

Being cooped up at home and being unable to go downstairs for just a run around is driving us all a little batty. I’ve been forced to rummage through our stash of emergency toys for something — anything — when we are all crawling up the walls in boredom.

Something that has proven very popular is the giant bubble wand. I like to keep the two children playing together, but at their different age groups it is a bit difficult. Naomi basically just wants to eat and destroy anything that she can get her hands on, which upsets little fusspot Noey to no end. With the bubble wand, I can chuck Noey out on the little balcony that we have in the hall with a tray full of bubble solution and Nomi is able to participate as well, even if she is trapped in the Bumbo seat looking on. Best part is that it keeps them entertained for a good part of an hour.

While Gor-Gor figures out the wand, Mei-Mei is wondering what Mummy is up to this time. It was the first time in a long while that she’s in the Bumbo. Which, together with the bubbles, are probably the only reason she stayed seated!

Reaching for the bubbles way up above!

I will never tire of seeing the childish delight at something so simple.

I’ve got sheets of mahjong paper to break out for finger full-body painting when I next get desperate. But in the meantime, we’ve got loads of activities lined up next week, so I hope the weather holds out!
