We had a real blast this Children's Season. We managed to squeeze in one more visit before the school holidays ended, this time to the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR). This was one museum I didn't know existed till I checked the schedule for Children's Season. It instantly caught my attention because Noey really loves natural history museums. Or at least, he loved The Australian Museum in Sydney, a really awesome natural history museum that I realise I totally ... read more
Flipped!
Naomi rolled over today! She's 2 days shy of 4 months.Hmmm, what just happened? How did I get this way up?She had just about convinced me that she wasn't interested in flipping when she pulled this stunt, rolling from her back to her front when my helper put her down for a diaper change. I had just walked a few steps away with Noey when my helper started cheering, and I came over to see Naomi on her tummy with her arm stuck under her. After that she pulled a few almost-flips (where she was ... read more
Noey’s First Day
In my inbox yesterday morning was the following note from my Calendar:Reminder: Noey starts School @ Mon Jun 27 11am - 2:30pmWell, it was not like I really needed any reminding! All of Sunday evening through to the next morning saw me a bundle of energy as I shuffled between labelling Noey's bag and bottle, picking out his clothes, prattling randomly to Noey about the activities that he would be enjoying in school and dishing out various last-minute instructions. I know DD tried really hard not ... read more
Dropping In at the Peranakan Museum
At our destination! The obligatory "we were here" shot. We made it to the Peranakan Museum last Wednesday with S & Z to check out the Drop-In Wednesdays programme that they are running for Children's Season. I have been meaning to visit the Peranakan Museum for a while so I was quite excited. What I didn't expect was for it to be so crowded! We arrived at about 1.20pm (the programme runs from 1pm to 5 pm) and I was sorely disappointed that by then all the spots for the t-shirt silk ... read more
Girly Time
I don't get to spend a lot of time with Naomi alone. That, I realise, is the one major difference between having just one kid and now having two. Noey and I, we were joined at the hip. So much so that we continue to be, even now. He asks for my attention constantly, and because Mummy is at home, everyone else wouldn't do. As a result, I often have no choice but to hand Naomi to my helper while I tend to Noey's needs. It is something I feel guilty about all the time. (Ah, Mummy guilt. Another ... read more
Lunch: XO Fish Bee Hoon Soup
I just realised that I forgot to post this! The only reason I remembered was because we had this for lunch yesterday. Hah.I decided to try to cook Fish Bee Hoon Soup because DD really loves it, and I was running out of soupy meals to cook at home for those days when we all need something light and (somewhat) healthy. Before this, I only had 2 real options, which are also our perennial favourites: (1) Chicken Macaroni Soup and (2) Fishball Noodle Soup. I needed more variety! I shopped around for ... read more
Looking Back 11 Years
Today, I was suddenly seized with the desire to sift through and clear a bag of old stuff that my Mum had gathered from my old room and unceremoniously dumped at my place some weeks ago. I don't know why I suddenly chose to do that. With Noey milling around me and flitting between Planet Earth on telly and asking for my attention, and Nomi alternately sucking her fist on the mattress beside me in the hall and asking to be picked up, it wasn't like I was actually free. But providentially, I ... read more
Save the Colour at the Jurong Bird Park
The kid-friendly activities just keep coming!Last Saturday, we were invited to Save the Colour at the Jurong Bird Park. This is an event organised by the Bird Park to be held in the weekends this June for everyone in the family to learn about avian conservation. For this, most of the Penguin Coast area has been transformed into an Origami Village where kids (and adults!) can learn fold origami items, which are meant to symbolise and represent avian habitats. As the village is "populated" with ... read more
Happy Fathers’ Day!
For Fathers' Day today, I wanted to give my favourite father the type of day he loves. Lots of sleep (hah!), lots of photos, and an evening having a picnic in the park with his 2 babies.Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Instead, the day belonged to our fathers -- two last-minute appointments resulted in us heading to MBS for lunch with DD's Dad and family, and dinner at an old family favourite with my Dad and family. Appointments which we practically dragged ourselves to as a late night last ... read more
Eat, Please!
Sometimes, I felt like I would never see the day. My son, actually actively feeding himself his lunch (ie. a proper meal), without prompting.Ok, he didn't eat the whole meal himself -- we are still some ways away from that, sadly -- but at least he managed to eat a good amount before he got bored. "Mummy, I want a book," he demanded after a while. And with that, I went back to feeding him before he got out of the chair or the food got all over the book, or we end up sitting at the dining table ... read more
