Think Pink

October 26, 2010 by Mummybean 16 Comments

We had our detailed scan today and the final verdict is out: It's a GIRL!We had the nicest sonographer who turned the screen towards me for much of the time and patiently explained to both DD and I everything that we could see on the screen, while occasionally pausing to take the necessary screenshots and measurements for the report. So we both got to watch Baby #2 for a nice long time throughout the whole appointment. Just like Noey, she was a wriggly one! She preferred to dive into the corners ... read more

Sabbath Class Quotes

October 25, 2010 by Mummybean 6 Comments

We've been sending Noey for Sunday School classes (which we call Sabbath classes) since a couple of months ago, on and off. It started when DD was scheduled to take 4 weeks of the toddlers class. Classes at our church are held after service, so I was chasing after him all on my own after service for a couple of weeks before it occurred to me that it would be easier just to sit Noey in class for that time period! The class is really for 3-5 year olds, but younger kids are welcome to sit in. With ... read more

Capella: Afternoon Tea

October 24, 2010 by Mummybean 4 Comments

I think aside from the lovely surroundings, one of the things I love about the Capella is the fact that you get a lot of extra amenities thrown in. I know it's already been factored into the (rather high) room rate, but still, it's nice that all the drinks in the minibar (coke, sparkling water, bottled water and orange juice) are free and replenished daily, there is free wifi, free local telephone calls, and free Nespresso coffee and Gryphon Tea in the room. When you go to the pool, they bring ... read more

Capella: Nuah-ing

October 24, 2010 by Mummybean 2 Comments

We spent 3 days on a staycation at the beautiful Capella to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We thought of trying out the Resorts World Hotels, in particular the Hard Rock Hotel because we heard that the pool was kid-friendly with its own "beach", but decided against it when we realised that the lobby is currently being renovated. So it was back to the Capella for us, and after our previous wonderful stay, I was really looking forward to it.I'm glad that it was as amazing as I remembered ... read more

Storytelling

October 20, 2010 by Mummybean 4 Comments

Reading books before bedtime is one of Noey's favourite bedtime rituals. But being as chatty as he is, he can't sit still and let you tell the story. Oh no. Instead, he loves to tell the story too. And the truth is, we love to hear him tell the story too, and laugh over the sometimes hilarious results. Noey: Spot and his Papa are playing football! In the park! And the bunny is kicking a acorn!(Ignores my attempt to correct him and say "an acorn" instead)(Points at the chairs in the picture)And ... read more

The Burden of Expectations

October 20, 2010 by Mummybean 10 Comments

Sometimes I look at my little son (and think about my other little one on the way) and wonder: what will our relationship be like when they grow older? When Mummy is no longer the centre of their universe? When they have their own lives to lead, their friends and later on, their own families? What do I want it to be like?I have a funny relationship with my mother. I think you can call it a love-hate relationship. I think it stems from the fact that she and I are really alike in temperament (much ... read more

Are We Already in the 2nd Trimester?

October 18, 2010 by Mummybean 12 Comments

It's true that the 2nd baby just doesn't get as much attention as the 1st one did. Especially when the 1st child is still at an age when he still takes up all your attention.Being a first-born myself, I guess I've never realised the premium on my parents' attention that I used to command, until now. It was a privilege, though I'm sure there were moments when I didn't think it was the case!I'm currently 19.5 weeks along, and whereas with Noey, I would have been able to tell you how far along I ... read more

Turning 2 Together

October 11, 2010 by Mummybean 1 Comment

Happy birthday, little 2-year-olds!I'd better post these up, cos at the rate I am going, Noey will be 3 before the pics from his 2nd birthday see the light of day!The first celebration he had was with the October Babies a week before his actual birthday. We moved it up from our standing 1st Oct date as Kate and family were going off to Perth. One of the reasons why I wanted a bigger home was because I actually love having friends over, so I was glad we were able to host the group this time!We ... read more

Not Quite the Same Meaning

October 10, 2010 by Mummybean 1 Comment

Poor Noey is starting to discover that English really isn't that straight-forward afterall.Scenario 1While reading a book about a crocodile with a toothache, Noey happily repeated one of the lines: "Crocodile has a toothache!". Then, as if to show his understanding of what a toothache is, he pointed at the reddish stones in the same picture and said, "Red egg! Orange egg!"Erm, not quite, Noey.Scenario 2Me: "Noey, don't sit on that cushion. It's not very stable."Noey: "Like the thief on ... read more
