During the Children’s Day long weekend, we decided to visit Playeum’s Children’s Centre of Creativity which recently opened its doors at Gilman Barracks. If the name Playeum sounds familiar, it is because they have been on the scene with play-focused creative activities for kids for several years now. I’ve always enjoyed their events, like The Big Draw, and am excited that they have their own space now! We couldn’t make it for the media preview but decided to go check out the space on our own ... read more
Basking in the Sun at West Coast Park
The kids and I got the best present this Children’s Day when we were blessed with haze-free skies. The bright sunlight and the heat were back in (nearly) full force but I really didn’t want to complain. Instead we took the opportunity of a day off and great weather to hit the park. West Coast Park wasn’t actually on my agenda. I had planned to bring the kids down to the Esplanade for Octoburst on Friday. But we stopped at the West Coast Macs for breakfast because we were in the area, and hey, ... read more
The October Babies Turn Seven
As we moved into October, my little man turned seven. SEVEN! I can still remember the day he was born almost like it was yesterday. Yet as I think over the details, I feel the passage of time keenly. I unfortunately had to postpone his birthday party to the end of the month over fears of the near-apocalyptic haze we’ve been having around here. But I was glad that we were still able to bring the October Babies together for a quick outing-cum-celebration before all their real birthdays ... read more
Protect Your Family with AXA SmartFamily
Being a Stay-At-Home-Mum, one thing that you quickly realise is that you get NO MCs. Where I was previously able to take time off from the office to recuperate when I fell ill, as a mum, and one who is largely responsible for the day-to-day running of the household, it is tough to do that because there are always a million and one things that need doing with kids around! I am grateful for the fact that I rarely ever fall sick — I jokingly call my ability to stay well my superpower — but just a ... read more
Noey’s Birth Story – Seven Years On
On this day seven years ago, I was feeling heavy. I was 38 weeks along with at-that-point-still-unnamed Noey in my belly. My face was puffy, my skin was blotchy and I had really fat feet and fingers from water retention. (Yup, definitely no pictures here!) I was looking forward to the end of the week when I would be starting my maternity leave. I had planned it carefully. It was to be my last day in the office. 1 October was a public holiday. 2 October was to be the day when I would take a ... read more
Sleeping Beauty on Ice with The Imperial Ice Stars
We have been confined indoors over the past week as a result of the ongoing haze situation here in Singapore. So it was with delight that we escaped to MBS on Thursday evening to catch The Imperial Ice Stars Sleeping Beauty on Ice. I’ve always loved watching ice-skating performances and was excited to watch this award-winning troupe which has, over the last 10 years, established a reputation for their sophisticated portals of classic works. Together with my little daughter, we decided to make a ... read more
The F1 Thursday Pit Lane Experience 2015
We had an unexpected treat on Thursday just before the F1 weekend when we got the opportunity to walk the pit lane and get up close to the F1 cars! How I ended up with tickets to The Thursday Pit Lane Experience, I can only say it was the Lord’s blessing. I was driving Noey to school one morning, I heard the Kiss 92 crew talk about Rev Up Singapore and give away tickets to the pit lane experience. Feeling curious about the event, I checked out the website and realised that you could win ... read more
Smell Fresh with Active Fresh!
A year on from when we were first introduced to the Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh™ range, they are back with another product. This time, a new version of their signature “no more tears” shampoo, enhanced with Active Fresh™ technology. I’ve been intrigued by Johnson’s Baby’s Active Fresh™ range since I first came across it because I think it is such a clever solution to meet an existing need. The Active Fresh™ line of products are formulated to help kids stay fresh and clean even during ... read more
Lighting Up The Rainbow City
Where Term 2 is about Literature and the Arts, Term 3 is Project Term on the kindy school calendar. This is usually my favourite term as it is fascinating to see what the children come up with, with the help of their creative teachers. The topic of study is usually selected by the kids in tandem with their teachers (both English and Chinese) by the end of Term 2. Parents would be roped in to help at various points and it usually culminates in Project Presentation Day when parents are invited ... read more
Yaki Udon (Stir-Fried Udon Noodles)
I was recently asked to contribute a recipe as part of a compilation being put together for a wedding gift. I think it is a really lovely idea, especially since the bride-to-be loves to cook. A book of well-loved recipes from family and friends is something I would certainly have loved to have received! I decided very quickly on the recipe that I wanted to contribute. I wanted something Asian and easy, and Yaki Udon fit the bill. This is a dish is a staple on my lunch menu because it is quick ... read more
