Just like that, you're into the post-half-birthday world. Yikes. Your Daddy picked you up for a special birthday cuddle this morning and told you that you were Little Noey no more -- "Medium Noey", he called you, but I objected. Little Noey you still are, though you're not quite so little anymore, are you? This month in particular has been an exciting one for you, and for me, in good ways as well as some trying ones. Mummy's officially been back at work for a full month and a bit, which means ... read more
FirstSecond Cut is the Deepest
So this is Noah as we all know him...We're going for a haircut? What haircut? And this is him now...Ok, so who's responsible for me looking like this??AHHH! I know, my baby's lovely hair is gone! There I was, thinking on Saturday that we were bringing him in for a trim -- the back was getting long and his hair was growing over his ears yet again. But while we were at Junior League, DD asked the lady to even out his uneven hair. His hair was getting rather thin underneath and DD had been laughing ... read more
Earth Hour
Earth Hour for us was spent at a candle lit BBQ at Weng's. Incidentally the lights in his backyard were out so the candlelight was not solely the result of trying to be green! But when 8.30pm rolled round, we dutifully turned off the lights and continued our chit-chat in the darkness. I must confess that we were willing time to go a little faster at the end just so that we could turn on the fans! It was HOT, with only the occasional breeze bringing a little respite. Noah though managed to feed, ... read more
Milking It
Before Noah was born, I gave myself a 6-month timeframe for breastfeeding. I hadn't contemplated going any further. But with Noah's 6 month milestone coming up, I've been wondering "what next?" and the answer for now at least is fairly obvious -- keep going at it for as long as I have supply until he's established on 3-meals a day. Or until he has teeth and bites me and I decide that enough is enough! It's all a bit anti-climatic I guess, but I'm glad I actually have the choice to make.I have not ... read more
Gastronomic Experiments
Speaking of food, I've been inspired by everyone around me both online and in real-life (my Mum included) to venture back into the kitchen and try out some new recipes. That and the fact that DD has asked me to PLEEEEEASE spare him from having rice and steamed fish for dinner. Hrumph. For the record we always have 3 dishes and a soup which is plenty of variety! Think I trained that man to eat pasta too well! In truth, I missed the kitchen anyway, and I'm not too hot on eating Chinese food for ... read more
The Pears Get The Nod
Oh, he likes 'em Pears. Yes he does! Now I think I'm going to mix some into the Rice Cereal (disgusting as that may sound) to see if he'll eat any of it... ... read more
Moving on from an All-Milk Diet
Solids. I have been looking forward to the day I would introduce Noey to the wonderful world of food beyond breastmilk but in the past couple of weeks, standing on the cusp of taking the plunge, I found myself racked by indecision (No surprises there):Is it too early? Should we wait till 6 months? But he seems to be losing interest in his milk? And he's almost 6 months anyway? But feeding him solids would decrease his ability to absorb iron from breastmilk, so maybe I should hold it off? Anyway, ... read more
Little Liver
"Really, Daddy? Our team beat Villa 5-0 last night (while I was asleep)?""Looks like it's going to be a nail-biting end to the season!"(I thought this cap was a toddler's cap when I bought it but it seems to fit him just fine now. DD is lamenting the fact that he may have inherited his big head. Hee hee.) ... read more
Hushabye Baby
Asleep for now, but for how long?Sleep is currently a precious commodity. And we don't seem to be any closer to finding a solution to ensuring that all of us get more of it.The past week has been pretty difficult, so much so that I have had to wake DD up at night and (literally) chuck him the baby cos I just can't take any more of a writhing, whiny, tired baby who obviously wants to sleep but just can't. Unfortunately since I'm the one who regularly takes care of him at night, upon realising ... read more
Man U 1 – 4 Liverpool
No prizes for guessing who dressed Noah today.Romper was a Christmas present for Noah, courtesy of my bro, but I think it's really more DD's present. The hubs is understandably over the moon after yesterday's excellent result and has happily declared that he will be reading football news and wearing his kit cufflinks for a week. Men! They can be so easily satisfied sometimes! ... read more
