Beco-ed

June 5, 2009 by Mummybean 8 Comments

Overheard on Monday:DD: Hey, Noey is 8 months old tomorrow! What shall we get him?Me: How about a baby carrier?DD: Yeah, and I'll get him a 50mm 1.4. Then we're all winners here!DD didn't get the lens but INoey did get the baby carrier. Yes, another one. Hand carrying Mr Wriggly these days is a workout in itself and with his current weight, the one sided slings are weighing down on my shoulders. Figured it was time to get something with better weight distribution. After some research and on the ... read more

We celebrated my birthday with lunch with the family at New Majestic. My sister had suggested dim sum and I wanted to try somewhere new, so I was really pleased when I realised that they had an ala carte brunch buffet that fit the bill nicely. We were even more impressed after getting there. There was a decent selection of dim sum, but what interested us more were the number of dishes they had on the menu, which was really pretty extensive. There were single order items like Pepper Crab with ... read more

Upstairs and downstairs and in my ladies’ chamber

June 1, 2009 by Mummybean 7 Comments

Perhaps after honing his climbing skills at Fidgets, Noey decided he could scale the stairs! We popped over to meet up with David who was back for a bit, and he went for the staircase. Thinking he couldn't do any harm, I let him. But to my surprise, he managed to haul himself up the first step and just kept on going. By the time we ran for the camera, he was nearly at the first stair landing. At that point he looked like he wanted to walk up the stairs instead! He had to be carried down ... read more

Rub a dub dub

DD asked me how I would like to spend Saturday afternoon, it being my birthday weekend. I thought long and hard about what we could do as a family, but in the end, realised what would really be a treat -- to spend some time on my own getting a MASSAGE. Now that I think about it, the last massages I had were the post-natal Malay Jamu ones which were a good 7 months ago!Tried my luck calling the Spa at House to get my appointment and they actually managed to slot in in a 5.30pm. Yay! I went for ... read more

Quick Easy Salad

June 1, 2009 by Mummybean Leave a Comment

Completely random, but I was particularly pleased with how this salad which I threw together about a week back turned out. Just a really simple combi of butterhead, tomatoes, onions and half an avocado, courtesy of Noey (who had the other half for his dinner). DD is really not a fan of salads so I decided to make a honey mustard dressing -- really the only dressing he likes cos it's not sour -- in a bid to get some approval for my greens. Mixed 1 part mustard with 2 parts of honey in a base of ... read more

Comfort Food

May 30, 2009 by Mummybean 6 Comments

Me, myself and I and my bowl of yummy goodness at Tampopo. Was feeling kinda glum at the lack of a lunch date on Friday when I decided to snap out of it and just take myself somewhere I've been meaning to check out for a while. Had a flash of inspiration and popped down to Tampopo. I was sorely tempted by the Black Pig Tonkatsu but it fried meat really isn't my thing so I decided to stick to ramen and can I say, there's nothing like good rich stock to lift my spirits. It had just the right amount ... read more

Fun at Fidgets

May 30, 2009 by Mummybean 5 Comments

I've been particularly glad that the hotch-potch that is Turf City has been slowly evolving into a kid-centric place. We usually head towards Scrumptious for reliably good food (and a quick catch up with Bren when she's there) but this week, we decided to let Noey have some fun at Fidgets. We got a little lost getting there -- it's above Giant so you should park at that end of the compound. We didn't know and ended up walking the entire length of the building and then some to get there. We got ... read more

My Mothers' Day Gift from my photo-loving husband and my photogenic son: A digital photo frame. The funny thing was that my present was given to me the day after Mothers' Day because my dear husband thought that Mothers' Day was the following week. Conveniently however, I had asked him to take some shots for me with Noey on Mother's Day to commemorate the day. He must have been chuckling to himself over the appropriateness of his present! It was a Mothers' Day simply celebrated. A present and a ... read more

In a nutshell

May 26, 2009 by Mummybean 6 Comments

Surfacing after being buried in work to say: I'm so glad the board meetings are OVER! In my newly acquired role of company secretary, I'm all meeting-ed and minute-ed out. After our Perth trip I've been bogged down with work, which was really very challenging to clear on a 2.5 day work week. In fact, in the process of trying to squeeze it all in, I worked late an extra night here and there these past couple weeks, resulting in me coming down with a headache for 3 days the previous weekend and ... read more

7-Month-er

May 9, 2009 by Mummybean 13 Comments

On the morning of 2 May 2009, giving the thumbs up to your first flightHey there, you big boy you. This letter update is late this month for good reason as we zipped up up and away to Perth on the day you turned 7 months old. We spent a very happy 6 days thereafter, just you, me and Daddy, which I like to think was a great present for you this month. But I do regret not getting this out earlier because you're developing so quickly, your little achievements become old news fast, outstripped by new ... read more
