The Kop Comes to Town

July 25, 2009 by Mummybean 8 Comments

We might not be going for the match but it is a Liverpool weekend after all. So Daddy and Baby got dressed for the occasion.

Matching sets

“Go Reds! V for Victory!”

They certainly were not the only ones as we encountered quite a few others similarly kitted out for the weekend. We were thinking of catching the team on the river cruise but after fitting in Noey’s nap, we realised we wouldn’t get to Boat Quay by 1.30pm, much less get a good spot. So we discarded the idea and went shopping instead.

And whaddya know, the jerseys came in handy with fellow fans. One chap (in the European Away kit) gave us his table in the crowded Starbucks. And another two chaps came over to chat, amused by our baby’s get-up. It’s amazing how strangers can bond over a mutual interest!

To those of you going to the game tomorrow, have fun! One of the guys we spoke to today had just flown back from Bangkok after catching the game there and he said that while the spectators were Liverpool fans holding afloat Liverpool scarves, they cheered for the Thai team. Somehow I don’t think Singaporean fans are going to be that patriotic.

We’ll be catching the game on telly.
