In a blink of an eye, we’ve officially been living in this new apartment for 1 month! It’s taken a while but slowly, as the contractors stop coming by quite so often, our boxes get unpacked and our belongings get put in their place, this now feels more like home.

There’s still more to do. We went on an extremely tiring trip to Ikea on Saturday to pick up shelving for the storeroom, Noey’s room and the study, and many storage boxes and other odds and ends. The grilles will be coming soon and I have to pick our new curtains. The walls are still empty and we are cracking our heads wondering where to place the huge mirror and Kartell shelf which used to adorn the walls of our dining area.

So it’ll be some time before I’m totally happy with it. In the meantime, here are some pictures for those of you who have been asking.

The sink area for the Common Bathroom, which, as you can see, has been populated by Master Noey (who was taking a bath in the background. I love mosaic and it makes an appearance in both bathrooms. Here, it covers both walls on either side of the mirror.

Our long counter with double sinks in the Master Bathroom. There’s more shelving behind the mirrors. We are particularly happy with how this came out. I originally wanted all the shelving concealed but DD doesn’t like “broken-up” mirrored sections, so we worked in some open shelving instead. It now just needs some soft touches. Having double sinks has turned out way more useful than I would have imagined!

Wide view of the Master Bathroom. This isn’t a great pic but you can see the shower area (with mosaic!) at the end of the bathroom. We thought long and hard and decided to do away with the bathtub in the Master Bath. Back when we were renovating our previous home, we chickened out and put in a bathtub, and then proceeded to use it as a laundry receptacle for 5 years. We bit the bullet this time and I’m really pleased with the additional space for hanging/storage/etc.

Noey’s moon lamp, turned on! You can also kind of see the 3 colours on his wall behind the lamp. There are 4 in total on one long wall, moving gradually from orange to a light yellow. No wallpaper for us this time, so I wanted to do something interesting on the walls. There is another variation — 3 shades of brown — in the guest room.

The TV Console — the one spot of our house we covered with wallpaper. It took us multiple trips to finally confirm our final choice — picking the colour was unbelievably difficult when the structure wasn’t up — but we’re both really happy with the result. If you’ve been to my old place, you’ll realise that we have recycled the TV Console design, with the modification of the 3 boxes at the side. We just couldn’t come up with another design we liked better! Of course this time round we placed the power sockets in a more accessible location and DD put in tons of power sockets (10!), much to his satisfaction.

Wide view of the hall. We went for ceiling fans in the hall and rooms, again something we learnt from our failure to do so in our old house. Best decision ever.

DD’s wardrobe. Another great decision, because this means I get a whole L-shaped walk-in wardrobe all to myself! Our Master Bedroom is really pretty large, so I convinced DD to build an additional wardrobe for his clothes. Now he gets ample space and I get double what he has. Both of us are well pleased!

Hmmm, looks like I’ve got to start taking more photos in the day time!

  10. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! It&#39;s so nice! Congrats on your beautiful new home!!!! I LOVE your Master Bathroom *drool* esp the his and hers sinks… you must take more pics… esp of Noey&#39;s room!

  12. thanks ladies! the space is what made us buy this place, so you can imagine i&#39;m quite pleased with it 🙂 will take more pics as i go along, probably when the curtains come in. hee.<br /><br />anon :: the fan is a haiku kotuku, and we got it from the distributor, Ancom E&amp;E (www.relitespecialty.com). it was $500.
