The close of the year is always a good time to reflect on the days gone by and that's what I was pondering as the year drew to a close. It was a big year for me so it took me this long to finish penning my thoughts!2012 was a very different kind of year for me. It marked my first full year as a SAHM (Stay-At-Home-Mum). I officially had no - or negligible - income, gave my occupation as "Housewife" on all the forms I had to fill, and faced my kids 24/7. My heels lay languishing in the shoe ... read more
Me-My-Mine!
Nomi seems to have mastered the concept of me, my and mine. Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed that she uses them correctly on a regular basis."My knee painful, Papa." (Complete with grumpy face and tone.)I am surprised by this because Noey took a while to get the hang of it. There was a lot of "Carry You!" when he really meant "Carry Me!" and the like.I'm sure always having to fight with Gor-gor for her own space has helped her grasp the concept faster! ... read more
Shutterfly Photobooks
Digital photos are both a boon and a bane. It's great that you get to take unlimited shots but I now have tons of lovely photos that are simply just sitting our computers. It's such a shame.I plan to rectify the situation, and am seriously considering starting on Project Life. The idea appeals to me - just print photos, journal, and file into an album. I'm no scrapbooker so I'm thinking of using it in it's simplest form, which I think should still be pretty. Of course, some planning will have to ... read more
Returning to the Shuttle
One of my (unofficial) goals for the year is to improve both DD's and my fitness level. It's unofficial because I, erm, haven't gotten round to writing down any of my goals/resolutions for the year yet. Perhaps being less of a procrastinator should be one of them. Anyway. I realised that asking my husband to go jogging on a regular basis just wasn't going to happen. And it was unlikely to happen for me too. Friends who remember how I used to be a competitive long-distance runner who pretty ... read more
Having Fun At Gymnademics
If you follow me on Instagram or on my Facebook Page, you might have seen some pictures of Naomi in action at Gymnademics.I'll be honest and say that I hadn't heard of Gymnademics until they approached Naomi and I to try their classes. I was immediately keen since my little girl is very active and has a fondness for gym activities. However, I was surprised to learn that Gymnademics is affiliated to The Institutes For The Achievement Of Human Potential (“IAHP”) in Philadelphia, USA, the founders ... read more
First Day
It was the first day of school again -- a brand new year in a brand new class.Noey was very blasé about it. I think I was more excited about him starting K1 than he was.At least there were no tears, thanks to the fact that he knocked out at 8.50pm the night before and therefore had sufficient sleep. It also helped that school hours are a measly 1.5 hours this week. For a boy who complains that the 3 short hours he spends in school are too long, it was music to his ears. I got the first real ... read more
Welcoming 2013
I wanted to end the year with a round-up-sum-up of the year gone by, but in truth, my head wasn't in the right place.I've been grumpy and frustrated for days. And restless and unhappy.I couldn't pinpoint the reason why. But after talking it through with the husband, we realised that I've been tired, lonely and I need a break.2012 has been a tiring year. It's been busy yet filled with boring lulls, fulfilling yet full of the mundane. There is much I wish to say and recap on, but it'll have to ... read more
Lollibox: Blow Wind Blow Box
Hasn't it been a positively WET December? Our Advent activities kept us busy in the run-up to Christmas, but the combination of the rain and Naomi falling ill meant that we spent a lot of time at home. Time to break out the Lollibox, I say!The other Lollibox we were given to review was the Blow Wind Blow Box. With this box, kids are introduced to the concept of "Wind", with the activities designed to allow them to experiment with the effect of wind. (If you're unfamiliar with Lollibox, do refer ... read more
So this is Christmas…
Just like that, Christmas is behind us and we are into the last days of 2012.It felt a bit frenetic over the Eve of Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day -- (That was a mouthful, wasn't it?) -- when we squeezed in meet-ups with friends and family alike. But in truth, I thrive on that kind of thing. Much to the husband's dismay, I should add. There's nothing I love more than a good party. This year's Christmas was a teeny weeny bit anti-climatic for me because I didn't get to cook for ... read more
Blessed Christmas One & All
It's Christmas morning and I'm sitting with the Christmas music playing, waiting for the kids to wake up.My ham is baking in the oven, and on the counter, a fruit cake sits cooling off, ready to be packed asa gift for my Dad. Life is good. And surprisingly peaceful! It's been a tiring lead-up to Christmas this year. There's been the daily buzz of activity, but what has taken its toll are the long weeks of mostly single parenting on my part as the husband was consumed by work. He's finally done, ... read more
