Bad Hair Days

July 16, 2010 by Mummybean 8 Comments

Thanks to my handiwork, Noey now sports this latest look:Yeargh.Unfortunately his fringe was growing into his eyes, and since he hates haircuts with a vengence -- the toys, TV, books, sweets (yes, I even sucummbed to the hairstylist's offer of a chuppa-chup once in vain hope -- I decided to take matters into my own hands. And because he doesn't consciously let anyone bring the pair of scissors near his head, I had to do it while he was asleep on DD's shoulder. As a result of the rush job while ... read more

Viva España!

July 12, 2010 by Mummybean 2 Comments

And so it is that the spectacle of the World Cup has come to a close with pre-tournament favourites Spain being crowned the Champions. DD leapt and punched the air in joy when Iniesta managed to put the ball in the net -- that moment crowning an otherwise unsatisfying World Cup for him as he watched his other usual favourites, Argentina and Brazil fall by the wayside. It felt good to seeing the best team win in the end. I'd tipped Spain to lift the trophy but after seeing them fall 0-1 to ... read more

The Bow in the Cloud

July 8, 2010 by Mummybean 6 Comments

Did you see the huge rainbow in the sky this evening? We only noticed it in the rear view mirror of the car as we drove home in the evening. Sadly for me, I was driving and so was unable to get more than a glimpse of it through the mirror. But DD tells me that it was virtually a whole arc and possibly the biggest rainbow he had ever seen.Noey was allowed special dispensation to get out of his car seat to have a look at the rainbow -- the first he has ever laid eyes on. And after exclaiming ... read more

1 to 10

Noey's guide to counting: When counting, you have to start from 1 and recite all the numbers up to 10.If you make an error and someone corrects you, just roll right on.Counting involves some pointing. It doesn't matter what you point at as long as you point at something everytime you say a number. When you have assessed that there are many items to be counted, you can start from 7 but always count up to 10.A demonstration:Now, who needs Math? ... read more

To Be Better

July 5, 2010 by Mummybean 3 Comments

Over the past week, I was reminded again that when it comes to managing relationships, specifically relationships with parents, it really does not matter if you think you've got a lot on your plate. The fact that you're juggling work in the office and from home, tending to a sick child, appointments with the contractor in far-flung regions, appointments with movers, appointments with the carpenter, appointments with the Paediatrician... all these are irrelevant to the fact that you failed to ... read more

Weekly Snapshot: Red Team

July 4, 2010 by Mummybean 1 Comment

Do your husbands like to dress like their sons? Mine does. DD gets a kick out of dressing just like Noey. He would check out what I dressed Noey in, and then gleefully choose the same colour or design. I tease him that it's because Noey looks more like me so he feels the need to make the effort to dress like Noey so that they look related! Heh.This photo was taken when DD took Noey out on a solo outing to the park just to give me more of a break last weekend. It make me smile, seeing my two boys ... read more

Bringing in the Wrecking Ball

July 1, 2010 by Mummybean 2 Comments

Complete and utter wreckage. That's the state of our new home at the moment. The demolition team moved in on Monday and now there are piles of debris everywhere. Yikes. Our contractor is a little nervous about meeting the end-of-month completion deadline, but I think we are prepared to move in as long as the floor is done. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime, on top of the fact that we're running around madly to try to get reno-related stuff sorted out as quickly as possible -- choosing ... read more

Walking the Walk, Talking the Talk

June 30, 2010 by Mummybean 8 Comments

I would like to think the Bible story reading, praying with Noey and speaking to Noey about God has shown some fruit and manifested itself in his speech.Noey's first grammatically correct self-constructed sentence - with the insertion of the article "the" - was: "God made the fish". Seeing as he had just woken up, it must have been some fish he was dreaming about! He followed that up immediately after hearing our enthusiastic praise with the not quite so directly factually accurate "God made the ... read more

A&E

June 28, 2010 by Mummybean 8 Comments

A first which I had hoped to avoid: Noey's first visit to the A&E.Unfortunately that's where we went on Sunday night.A glass panel fell from a cupboard at my MIL's place while we were there for dinner, and fortunately, no one was in the area when it fell. We picked up the pieces, swept up all the bits we could see and brought out the vaccuum to do a thorough job. Thereafter DD got down on his hands and knees to check the floor before we allowed Noey to walk in. And still, Noey somehow managed to ... read more
