Isn’t that how it goes?

Humpty Dumpty ala Noey:"Humpty Dumpty sat a wall.Humpty Dumpty sat fell down.Broken egg."Well, he did get the essence of the whole rhyme right, though in not so many words! ... read more

Weekly Snapshot: The Naughty Prince

June 6, 2010 by Mummybean 1 Comment

This is the way my naughty boy smiles. That impish smile really captures his personality and shows you that naughty streak underneath the otherwise innocent looking big eyes. And that crown. Really tells you who's the boss around here, doesn't it?20 months and counting. How did he ever get so big? ... read more

Itchy Scratchy Me

June 5, 2010 by Mummybean 7 Comments

My good intentions to blog have been somewhat thwarted by a hideous and itchy rash that has suddenly overtaken me.(Ok, I hope the pic didn't scare anyone.)I don't know what happened except that something seemed to have triggered off a major allergic reaction for me. I did notice a couple of random spots on my legs for a couple of days but on Thursday all hell, it seems, broke loose. There were spots like those all over my arms, legs, torso and back. And they just kept spreading. Of ... read more

Weekly Snapshot: Feeding Time

June 2, 2010 by Mummybean 6 Comments

Noey has discovered the joy of feeding the ducks and the other residents of the pond at the Botanic Gardens. "Let's go to the Park!" we'd say to him. "Botanics!" he'd insist. There he would slowly pinch off little bits of bread and drop them into the water, squealing wiwth delight when his little contribution gets gobbled up gratefully by the pond residents. We visited around sunset the previous Sunday and discovered that the ducks go into hiding in the evenings, so we ended up feeding the ... read more

A Year Older. Wiser Maybe?

May 31, 2010 by Mummybean 12 Comments

I stayed up on Sunday night, wanting to ring in the last minutes of being my year before I wake up in the morning one year older. I was having a good time shortlisting purchases on the internet - how convenient that my birthday this year coincides with memorial day sales, summer sales and the start of the GSS! This is FATE, my friends! Then, with half an hour to go before midnight, Noey suddenly started crying in his sleep (from a bad dream, I am guessing), woke up, and needed to be soothed back ... read more

学讲华语

May 27, 2010 by Mummybean 11 Comments

I have been bringing Noey for Mandarin Playclub classes at Julia Gabriel for the last 3 weeks and today was the last lesson for the term. I have always been a little worried about Noey learning Chinese, as any Chinese parent with a child who would have to enter the school system here would be. We speak English exclusively at home. Even my parents speak English all the time. We don't watch much TV, in English or Mandarin. The only Mandarin he hears regularly would be from my aunt (who would be ... read more

No Regrets

May 25, 2010 by Mummybean 4 Comments

I was a guest at the wedding of an ex-colleague-turned-dear-friend over the weekend. It was a lovely affair that I had very much wanted to be a part of -- full of warmth and reflecting the genuine affection the couple had for each other and which their friends and family had for them.(And I'm not just saying it cos you might read this, A!)It was a relationship that I had seen grow from before its official inception and I'm very glad for to see it come to fruition in marriage. This post is not ... read more

Simple Pleasures:101

May 24, 2010 by Mummybean 6 Comments

If I were Noey, I would have thought that my Saturday kind of sucked.First my Mum came out of the room all changed while I was having breakfast. When I saw her, I immediately thought she was bringing me to the park. "Park! Feed Swans!", I said. She just told me to finish my breakfast quickly, misleading me into thinking that we were in fact going to the park. Then instead of the park, she brings me to a church to attend a wedding where I'm required to sit, play quietly and keep quiet for an ... read more

Weekly Snapshot: Photo Therapy

May 23, 2010 by Mummybean 3 Comments

It was hard to tell who was more excited to see who:DD to see Noey after a long and tiring day in camp, OR Noey to see himself in photos on the computer.Hur hur. Yes, I have a little narcissist on my hands. Can I really blame him when everywhere: on Papa's and Mummy's laptops, on Papa and Mummy's mobiles, on his grandparents' mobiles and on his Jiujiu and Yiyi's too, on the walls at home, he is surrounded by pictures of himself?Me thinks it's time to change the scenery a bit. ... read more

Breakfast in the Park

May 20, 2010 by Mummybean 8 Comments

Little friends, birds to chase, ducks to feed, yakult to sip, cakes and fruit to munch, and acres of space to just run free. Saturday mornings should be made of these. Our pigeon chaser at workR prefers to be more civilised. With her packet of milk, thank-you-very-much.Some tears to start......but nothing that a strawberry can't solve! Our little Mr Teh Tarik. Pour into blue cup, drink. Pour into yellow cup, drink. Rinse and repeat."Wait a minute. You mean I've been drinking all this water and ... read more
