Little friends, birds to chase, ducks to feed, yakult to sip, cakes and fruit to munch, and acres of space to just run free. Saturday mornings should be made of these. Our pigeon chaser at workR prefers to be more civilised. With her packet of milk, thank-you-very-much.Some tears to start......but nothing that a strawberry can't solve! Our little Mr Teh Tarik. Pour into blue cup, drink. Pour into yellow cup, drink. Rinse and repeat."Wait a minute. You mean I've been drinking all this water and ... read more
My Man in Green
I got up early this morning to send the Man off on a different type of excursion.Blurry 6+am photoDD is on reservist! What makes this a momentous occasion (befitting the exclamation mark I put at the end of the previous sentence) is the fact that this is the first time ever that he's been called back for reservist. Prior to this, he had 13 good years thinking that he had slipped through the system but alas, it was not to be. He received notification to report for reservist this year much to his ... read more
Weekly Snapshot: Yakult
My little Yakult boyWhich kid doesn't love a bottle of Yakult? Whilst he started off calling it "Ya-yot", Noey quickly improved on his pronounciation of that bottle of the precious liquid. He asks for "Yalk-kult" whenever he can, be it first thing in the morning or even in the middle of the night when he is roused by a bad dream. Sadly for him, Mummy here hands over the bottle of Yakult rather sparingly. In fact, even when he gets to have a bottle, I usually drink some of it first so that he ... read more
Being Mummy
My somewhat electic Mother's Day flowers, personally selected by Noey (with Papa's help). He wanted the red roses and yellow eustomas, I am told."Alright Mama, let's blow out the candle and...""...Wait, what do you mean I'll only get one piece of cake?""Guess I should make the most of it. Let me at it, woman!"'Tis my 2nd Mother's Day this year. I wasn't expecting much but my dear husband insisted on taking Noey out on a jaunt -- leaving me with about half an hour of me-time, which I totally ... read more
Weekly Snapshot: Garbage Truck
I recently asked DD how many photos we have of Noey. "At least 15,000", he said sheepishly. If we keep this up, I'm quite sure Noey would never be able to view all these photos of himself in his lifetime. (Then again, he's really making a good attempt at it, repeatedly asking to see "pic-chairs" and "vee-vios" of himself. Daily. I always try to head him off, to his distress.)I'm quite sure there are photos that I've forgotten too. Which was why I was quite inspired by the project that Janet ... read more
19 Month Old Little Man
19 months old (and 4 days) today. And what a month it has been! This has been the month in which both DD and I have been forced to admit that our baby, well he really isn't a baby any longer. The books tell you to expect a language-development explosion this month and that's exactly what happened. Noey seemed to hit another growth spurt of sorts and his speech and understanding took another quantum leap this month. He's a walking, talking, honest-to-goodness little BOY, with his own opinions, ... read more
Sold!
So last week we took some big steps in our home-moving process: We finally signed our loan documents and... we sold our house.Yes, we did! Techincally we sold it about 2 weeks ago but till the option was exercised, it wasn't official-official. Now it is, and the transaction should complete in good time for us to move into our new home after renos are done. This brings us to the end of the whole house-buying-and-selling exercise. Which means no more dealing with property agents for us! Woohoo! ... read more
Urban Warfare
Reading the article in the Sunday Times yesterday about Street Wars, a water gun assassin game that will be hitting Singapore in May totally made me smile. With nostalgia.Would you believe that DD and I did something similar, years ago?The game was Weng's brainchild. Its name was Urban Warfare and the venue? Suntec City on a Saturday afternoon. Each of us carried a water gun of our choosing, filled with coloured water. Our task was simple -- to kill as many of the other players as possible. The ... read more
The Child’s Story Bible
I recently purchased a story book bible for Noey after reading about it somewhere, where exactly I embarassingly can't remember. It received rave reviews on Amazon and I love adding to Noey's collection of Bible stories, so I decided to get it.The Children's Story Bible arrived a couple of weeks ago and goodness, I've been the one glued to this book ever since.Told in a simple, gentle fashion, the book reads like a grandmother telling bible stories to her grandchildren, which incidentally was ... read more
Firemen for a Morning
Now that our Saturdays are no longer spent house-hunting, we've had a little more time to spend doing fun things for the whole family. (By that I mean fun things for Noey of course.)Last Saturday we went with Nat and Edgar and their Mums and Dads to the open house at Central Fire Station. I think all the Fire Stations are actually open the public on Saturday morning from 9am - 11am, but according to my colleague, the Central Fire Station is the most popular and used to visitors, and as a result, ... read more
