Noey and I love it when Papa gets off early cos we get to go out! Thursday was a perfect cloudy day so we decided it was a good day to be outdoors and whisked over to the Botanics to have a run around.I think Noey certainly enjoyed the acres of space available to him to explore. We brought him to one of the big patches near the front of the gardens and turned him loose, and he of course seized the opportunity to run as much as his little legs could carry him. He ran, plucked grass, went to check ... read more
Edmund & Sue
We kicked off our Wedding season this month -- (we have 4 weddings to attend in 4 weeks!) -- with Edumund and Sue Ern's church wedding on Saturday afternoon. The lovely bride sang at my wedding almost 4 years back, lending her beautiful voice to my march-in at the church and I was so glad to be able to be there witness her union as well.It was quite possibly the largest church wedding I've ever attended -- I think there were close to a thousand pple present! A section of the crowd from where we ... read more
Doing the Running Man
On Thursday, Noey realised that he could pick himself off the floor by himself. (Previously he would crawl up to a surface -- or me, usually -- to pull himself up.) And since then, there's just been no stopping him. Up and down the corridor, in and out of the rooms he would go, usually with something in his hands. His favourite item is probably DD's blackberry, especially when it's playing music. We kinda appreciate the fact that it allows us to track where he is without having to follow after ... read more
Awesome Foursome
We had another of our long-awaited Oct baby playdates on Tues at Lyn's where Noey had a ball of a time messing with Kate's toys and Auntie Lyn's furniture. I always look forward to these playdates both because the Mummies are such great, wonderful gals, and because it's so fun seeing what these kids, who are so close in age, get up to around each other. As they grow, the difference between the boys and the girls is becoming more apparent. The girlies, Raeann and Kate, and so GOOD. Lyn brought ... read more
Fish & Chips
I've designated Thursday as my Western food day. The husband was getting bored with the usual Chinese menu that was being turned out every other day -- I've not been too inspired and my helper, who does most of the cooking these days is able to whip up most of the regular dishes with minimal instruction so I've been letting her. But recently I've been itching to get back into the kitchen and I've decided that Thursdays will be the day when we eat something different. This week I decided to make ... read more
My Big Little Man, 11 Months On
11 months old on 2 Sep 2009It's been 11 months with you, my little man. 11 months of being your Mummy. And what an eventful 11 months it has been! You now stand at the cusp of toddlerhood and every time I think about it, I always squeeze you that bit tighter and kiss your chubby cheek, trying to hold on to my sweet baby for that much longer. You, on the other hand, are too much in a hurry trying to grow up. This month was a particularly busy month. The most obvious development is your walking. ... read more
Impromptu Spruce Date
Speaking of dinner dates, the hubs and I went on an impromptu one to Spruce on Wed. With Noey comfortably and conveniently at my parents' place, we took the opportunity to go try somewhere new and catch up. Spruce was it.And a good choice it was!Clockwise from the top left: Ahi Tuna Tartare, side of Assorted mushrooms, my Duck Pappardelle, DD's burger with Havarti CheeseI suggested the venue because it had Ahi Tuna on the menu, and I lurrrrve Ahi Tuna, having become a convert after our Hawaii ... read more
Being Ready
I chanced upon this amongst Noey's reading materials at my parents' place:Yes, Grandma is starting him young"Might as well get him ready what," said my Mum when I asked her about it. When I continued looking at her knowingly, she protested weakly about her not meaning anything by it and ended off with an "Aiyah, you're not supposed to see that."Hur hur. No, I'm not taking the hint quite just yet. ... read more
Us, 11 Months On
As is usual for the start of the month, I've been reflecting over the past month, thinking over my letter to Noey for the month past. These few days however, I've been thinking not so much about how much he has changed, but how much we and our lives have changed over the past 11 months.I know for me, I now go about my daily activities much faster than I did before. I eat quickly (or at least much faster than I used to), bathe quickly, do my work quickly. I also shop quickly as my Mum was ... read more
Memories in a List
To Noey:A list of seven of those small moments that make it so worthwhile being a Mummy, your Mummy. They wouldn't ordinarily make it to the baby book but it makes them no less precious. One: Last Friday when your Papa came back from work, you walked happily to him and greeted him with a loud (and clear) "Papa!". It totally made his day. It made mine too, seeing how happy he was at that point after enduring a long hard week at work. Two: On Saturday morning, after we'd bundled you out of the bath, ... read more
