My Little Footballer

July 28, 2009 by Mummybean 3 Comments

I guess it's pretty apt that my son picked the weekend that Liverpool was in town to show off his footballing skills!(Pardon the repeated "Wow!"s from us excited parents. This video could do with a soundtrack but I'm too lazy to go hunt down something appropriate.)So, any chance of him getting signed by his Daddy's favourite club, you think? ... read more

The Kop Comes to Town

July 25, 2009 by Mummybean 8 Comments

We might not be going for the match but it is a Liverpool weekend after all. So Daddy and Baby got dressed for the occasion.Matching sets"Go Reds! V for Victory!"They certainly were not the only ones as we encountered quite a few others similarly kitted out for the weekend. We were thinking of catching the team on the river cruise but after fitting in Noey's nap, we realised we wouldn't get to Boat Quay by 1.30pm, much less get a good spot. So we discarded the idea and went shopping instead. And ... read more

Suddenly, My Big Little Man

July 24, 2009 by Mummybean 8 Comments

In the past week, Noey feels like he has grown up a whole lot.He now clearly understands quite a bit more of what we say and it just boggles the mind how he's morphed from the wee, uncomprehending, not-quite-inanimate little being to his current rather aware and interactive self. He now waves bye bye, growls when we say "lion" and plays fetch with his ball. He also can stand independently without support. (He giggles sometimes as he stands, possibly from the sense of wobbliness, and it's ... read more

Little Swimmer

July 19, 2009 by Mummybean 9 Comments

Noey and I went for our first swimming class on Thurs at Marsden's at Turf City. After hearing about PF and Kristy's less than satisfactory experience at the Holland Road branch, I was in 2 minds whether to go for the class. My hesitation was also brought on by the fact that the class was at 9am and I wasn't sure my body was ready for the shock of getting in the water that early in the morning. But since I'd signed up (and they had me on the list -- more on that later on), we figured that I might ... read more

Is that a Tooth I spy?

July 17, 2009 by Mummybean 10 Comments

My baby has teeth! 9.5 months in the making. Yes, evil Mummy patiently waited for him to cry then gleefully whipped out the cameraMy finger was in his mouth sometime today and to my surprise, I felt something sharp. Of course he wouldn't let me have a good look so I had to wait till he decided to give a big wail and lo and behold! There it was, that tiny bit of white on his bottom jaw, the right lower incisor. Most of his peers have 4 teeth already by now and while I was happy they hadn't ... read more

Little Helmet Head

July 17, 2009 by Mummybean 8 Comments

"What happened to my hair??" Version #2This is what happens when you leave your child and his too long hair with his well-meaning grandparents.Noey's hair has been growing into his eyes and I've been meaning to trim it but kept procrastinating cos I was a bit nervous of doing a bad job of it. Well. Maybe I should have taken things in my own hands after all cos then I'll have no one to blame for the result!I walked in the door on Monday and burst out laughing when I saw my poor little helmet head ... read more

King of the Playground

July 15, 2009 by Mummybean 5 Comments

With Noey as active as he is these days, one of my favourite things to do (when weather permits) is to take him to the playground downstairs and turn him loose to crawl around and explore the play structure. My father, the classic "don't touch this/that/the other cos it's dirty"-type parent might not approve but I'm a firm believer in ourdoor play and I think a little dirt never hurt anyone. I do steer him away from the soil and bird droppings and the bits that look dodgy, but otherwise I give ... read more

In Wonderland

July 14, 2009 by Mummybean 11 Comments

Little Miss K celebrated turning the big 1 on Saturday with a Wonderland-themed party thrown by her good Mama for her at home. We went along to join in the festivities. And since it was a theme party after all, I figured costumes would be in order, at least for Noey. I suck at art & craft so after cracking my head trying to think of an easy and inexpensive costume that I could make, I decided that the King of Hearts it shall be.And my little King of Hearts it was! Now that I think of it, I ... read more

We love to go a-wandering

July 11, 2009 by Mummybean 5 Comments

Since Noey's really cruising this days (in addition to crawling everywhere really fast), I thought it would would a good opportunity let him try out a walker again. I had rented one for him about a month back but he really wasn't ready for it and kept threatening to fall flat on his face. Not any more. Alright, I've also been itching to buy him some new toy -- renting isn't quite the same. That said, I really would recommend renting because it's like an opportunity to test out the toys and ... read more

Adventures in Sleep Training #2

July 8, 2009 by Mummybean 4 Comments

Asleep in an old 3-6 month onesie that Daddy put him in which, well, as you can see, is way too small!I don't want to jinx it, but since my first sleep training post, things have been coming along nicely. That first week or so was tough, especially when he would awaken at 2-3am and start howling. I needed DD there with me just to make sure that I didn't cave in and just feed him so that all of us could get some sleep. It was also harder to settle him at that time since, having previously been ... read more
