Asleep in an old 3-6 month onesie that Daddy put him in which, well, as you can see, is way too small!I don't want to jinx it, but since my first sleep training post, things have been coming along nicely. That first week or so was tough, especially when he would awaken at 2-3am and start howling. I needed DD there with me just to make sure that I didn't cave in and just feed him so that all of us could get some sleep. It was also harder to settle him at that time since, having previously been ... read more
9 Months Old
9 Months old on 2 Jul 2009 9 months is a long time when you're waiting for a baby to arrive. 9 months however passes in a whirlwind when that baby is in your arms. You turn 9 months old this month, Noey. You were born at 38 weeks and 6 days, which means that as of 2 Jul, you have spent more time out of the womb than in it. Wow. Sometimes I wonder: do you remember any of your time in the womb, being a part of me? I think some part of you does, especially when half asleep in the middle of the ... read more
Cookyn Class
A couple of weeks back, I had the opportunity to go Cookyn. I did recently say that I love classes, didn't I? And of the lot, cooking classes have got to be my favourite.Places in Merv and Amanda's classes always sell-out within hours of them been launched and it was no different with their Mediterranean Party. I dropped Amanda a note anyway asking her to let me know if there were any late cancellations as I would be happy to take their place. And as it turned out there were! Got permission from ... read more
June desktop
Something to brighten my desktop:Those frozen teething toys? The best things ever. It keeps Noey busy especially when he's fussing about sitting in his highchair or over a meal. Though yes, it does get messy, especially when he decides to drop the food covered teether on the floor!I'm crap at scrapping, but with the free template from here, this was a snap. Pity June's nearly over! (I did this a week ago, but still.)It has been a busy month. ... read more
Adventures in Sleep Training #1
Noey and his curtain eyelashesHe looks so peaceful asleep that I wonder why he doesn't just STAY ASLEEP.So. We've started with the sleep training. I've really dragged my feet on this one. I keep fooling myself thinking that he'll just magically start sleeping through the night once he has enough space to roll around or he starts on solids or when he's eating his solids well... Well, he's now doing all three of the aforesaid and nope, still not sleeping through the night. And then I think, oh, ... read more
9 Years
We celebrated our 9th year together on 22 June 2009. As is our modus operandi for a good night out these days, we put our little bub to bed and trooped out for a late dinner. Noey in fact obliged us by going to bed an hour early at 8pm so we were able to eat at a fairly decent hour. We'd planned to go to Valentino's but after repeated tries to make a reservation and getting the answering machine every time, we figured it was not meant to be. I then thought maybe Viva Brazil Churrascaria, but ... read more
Music makes the world go round
I've been taking Noey to Kindermusik classes on Thursday afternoons for the past couple of weeks. Maybe there is a kiasu mummy in me somewhere... Heh. In truth, it's not my intention to hothouse him early, but rather, cos I thought it would be fun for us to do something together. I personally love classes and have signed myself up for all sorts before -- Photography. Cooking. Salsa (still have 2 left feet). Even Malay (don't ask). Since I'm off on alternate weekdays I thought I might as well put ... read more
Kitchen Raiding can make for Good Meals
Sad but true: the highlight of my day yesterday was the dinner I was going to cook that night.I've been lazy the past few weeks and have just been instructing my helper to prepare dinner from the standard dishes that she's familiar with, so my poor husband has been having steamed fish a bit too often for his liking. Hey, even I was getting a bit tired of it. So I decided to scout around for some new dishes to try that, most importantly, would allow me to make use of ingredients which I have in ... read more
My Little Lion
Noey is what you can euphemistically call a vocal baby. You can also say that he's a bit of a shrieker and a crybaby. Yes, he can be noisy. I'm sure you get the picture. While we try to stop him from unnecessary screeching, it's also his way of discovering his voice and what he can do with it. In the past few weeks, he's been growling quite a bit, which everyone found really funny. Sometimes he combines it with crawling around -- I call him my little lion: He's been babbling a fair bit as ... read more
A is for Animal, Z is for Zoo, H is for HOT
Lesson learnt: Never visit the Zoo on the first weekend of the June holidays.1) The whole world is there with their children. There are people everywhere -- the shows are packed, as are the restaurants, and it's hard getting a good view anywhere. And it's NOISY.2) It's SUPER HOT.Daddy, save me from this sweltering heat!3) Because of 1 and 2 above, you hardly see any animals, which kinda defeats the purpose of going to the zoo in the first place!Obviously it's more interesting looking at the ... read more
