On the morning of 2 May 2009, giving the thumbs up to your first flightHey there, you big boy you. This letter update is late this month for good reason as we zipped up up and away to Perth on the day you turned 7 months old. We spent a very happy 6 days thereafter, just you, me and Daddy, which I like to think was a great present for you this month. But I do regret not getting this out earlier because you're developing so quickly, your little achievements become old news fast, outstripped by new ... read more
Back from Perth
We (together with our red-faced baby) are back from sunny Perth! This was a trip that almost didn't happen, with the Swine Flu situation still evolving even as we were packing. As a result, we also faced some strong objections from my parents over bringing the little bub with us on the trip. We thought hard about it, prayed harder, and still decided that we needed the break and we wanted our baby with us, so off we went. And I'm glad we did.It was a very different type of holiday to the ones we ... read more
Destination: Perth
We're off to Perth next weekend! We were planning to go in late May to accommodate certain work committments, but some time just opened up in early May. And while we were doing the "should we or should we not" dance, I came across a SUPER promo fare on SQ that would have us paying only $1238 for 2 of us plus Noey, all taxes included. The base price per ticket per pax was only $208! Too bad the taxes for Australia are so high but I guess that can't be helped. Bugged the husband to confirm his ... read more

Just an ordinary day... Chomp chomp chomp...Hey Mum, you ready to take me out of here yet? Or will I have to do it myself?Okay, I just need to FOCUS...Steady...Steady...Look Ma, one hand!I guess it's time to lower the cot again. ... read more
Date Mate
DD and I had an impromptu date yesterday. He planned to work late and asked me if I wanted to have dinner with him instead of heading back to my parents' place for dinner and to pick Noey as per my usual routine. A quick call to my Mum and I was cleared for dinner. They even volunteered to send Noey back home for me and babysit him till we got back. Ah, got to love my folks.Since he wanted to go back to the office after the meal, we decided to eat in the area and hit on Bonta after I had a ... read more
Baby Goes Splish Splash
The weather has just been hot hot HOT. Perfect weather for a dip in the pool. Perfect in fact, for Noah's first swim in a real pool. So when Sophie invited us to join her Sunday afternoon swim, we packed all our stuff and our baby and headed over. Given his previous experience, we were a little concerned that Noah wouldn't like the pool. Our biggest concern? Which of us would get out of the pool with him if he didn't like the water because BOTH of us sure wanted the swim! Haha. Fortunately, ... read more
4 Meats
It's been a while since I've attended a cooking class. Back in the days when I was pregnant and my Mum and I didn't know any better, we had planned to attend some classes while I was on maternity leave. WELL. The fact that being on maternity was not leave at all (in the "free time to rest and relax" sense of the word) had clearly not quite occurred to us at that point. Me from sheer ignorance and my Mum from the fact that it's been many years since her last child! So we never managed to make it ... read more
Babies and Babes at the Botanics
After the last tea party, we got adventurous and decided to move the party outdoors. And so it was that last Saturday on the 2nd day of our long weekend, we packed our bubs and a whole load of grub and headed down to the Botanics for a real-life picnic. Incidentally Noah's first real-life picnic as well.Given how it always rains on Good Friday, we were praying that the weather would be fine in the morning. The wet weather backup was our place but that didn't have to be called into action, much ... read more
Easter Egg Hunt
It was Good Friday -- too early for Easter Eggs but Noey's Godparents had an Easter Egg hunt planned and we, or rather Noey, were invited to join in the fun. We begin! Noey distracted by the grass"Hmmmm, do I want that one?"The concept of an Easter Egg hunt was lost on Noey of course, with a crucial factor being that he doesn't know what chocolate is quite just yet! That however didn't stop him from trying to get a bite.Next year. Then he'll be chomping down the chocolate like Sophie! ... read more
Random Thoughts at 6.5 Months
Some random updates to interrupt this blog hiatus:We took Noah in for his 6-month check-up on Wednesday evening. His stats for this month (for my own record):Height -- 71cm (90th percentile)Weight -- 8.276 kg (75th percentile)So despite the milk-strikes, the bub's been growing well, and also on track with his milestones, which I am thankful for. He does appear to have sensitive skin however, and the redness on his face and at the back of his neck is likely to be mild eczema. Oh dear. Our Paed ... read more
