Nothing puts a smile on the face of my kiddos like DISNEY!
(Yes, both of them!)
Which is why they are in for a real treat this school holiday because Disney on Ice will be returning to Singapore and we’ve got tickets to the show!
We were lucky enough to get tickets to the previous two editions of Disney on Ice, first Princess and Heroes in 2013, then Treasure Trove in 2014, and unabashedly loved them both. This time round it’s going to be extra super special because the beloved characters from Frozen will be in the show! Yes, my little Elsa is going to be thrilled to be seeing Elsa, Anna and Olaf on the ice for the first time.
Also in the line-up for Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival are snippets from well-loved tales Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Tangled. There’ll be a magical gathering of royalty and we couldn’t be more excited!
Disney On Ice is an event which I remember fondly from the days of my childhood, when it was still called Walt Disney World on Ice. I attended a show at the Indoor Stadium as a wide-eyed little girl, back when I’d never seen an ice-skating rink. I was fascinated by the cold, the mist all round the stage, and of course, the performers gliding gracefully on the ice. Disney On Ice has come a long way since then. Here are some interesting facts you might not have known about the show:
1. Disney On Ice was founded in 1981 and has since travelled to over 75 countries and 6 continents.
2. The average size of the ice skating surface is 42m x 21m.
3. There are approximately 180 costumes presented at one Disney On Ice show.
4. More than 100 people work on these costumes.
5. It takes 18 trucks to transport all production equipment for set-up.
6. And it takes between 12-15 hours to set up one Disney On Ice show.
7. But just about 4 hours to tear down the entire production.
8. Over 80 different colours of paint are used on the 183 props for this production.
9. The youngest performer on this year’s show is 19-years-old and the oldest is 44-years-old.
10. Each performer may change up to 8 costumes in one show.
I don’t know about you but we sure can’t wait for the school holidays to begin and I know that Disney On Ice Magical Ice Festival is going to be the perfect way to kick it off! Grab your tickets before they are all sold out!
