We’ve been sick sick sick these past three weeks and counting, and it’s been no fun at all! The whole family has been taking turns to be struck down with a very virulent strain of Influenza A. It’s been very tiring but with Noey and the husband finally on the mend, I’m hoping we’ve seen the last of it! It’s been extra quiet here on the blog as we struggle to get back on our feet but I just wanted to take some time to say how thrilled I am that the Singapore Botanic Gardens has been inscribed as ... read more
Naomi’s 4th: A (Kind-Of) Frozen Craft Party
I’ve done shockingly bad job documenting my kids’ birthdays in recent years, and it’s kind of sad because we enjoyed them very much! Attending little Buddy’s 1st birthday the previous weekend has inspired me to finish this post because it was held at EatPlayLove Cafe where we we celebrated Mei’s birthday in March. We had a… wait for it… yes, FROZEN party for her, just like every other preschool girl on this planet. It certainly wasn’t my choice but if there’s one thing my daughter is, it is ... read more
Good Reads for the Singaporean Mum
When you ask me about my hobbies, reading has always been one of the first ones I would name. Sadly, since becoming a mum, I’ve found that I don’t read much anymore, unless you count the many children’s books that I am asked to read ad nauseum to the kids, or articles on Facebook! I rarely get the chance to read for leisure and pleasure, unless I’m on holiday. So that’s exactly what I did on our recent holiday to Gold Coast. It wasn’t quite the beach holiday ... read more
Hi-5 at United Square Shopping Mall
With Hi-5 in town, it was just impossible for us to to catch their show! Especially with Mei on a high from meeting Dayen and the rest of the Hi-5 cast for breakfast just last weekend. I promised Mei we would make it to United Square Shopping Mall for the live show and meet-and-greet, and made good on that promise on Tuesday. I planned to attend the 2.30pm show, thinking that maybe it being the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday, it wouldn’t be so crowded. Well, I thought wrong! The atrium ... read more
Rediscovering Underwater World {Giveaway}
Back when the husband and I were dating, Sentosa was one of the places we used to frequent. I think we liked that being on Sentosa felt like we were getting away without really going anywhere! During those days, it was a treat to be able to visit Underwater World Singapore. The husband is a big fan of aquariums and he in particular loved to venture in through the tunnels to view the huge specimens of fish swimming overhead. Underwater World has faded in prominence with the opening of the SEA ... read more
A Morning with Hi-5
It was our first weekend back from holiday but last Saturday, Mei and I bounced out of bed bright and early for a special date — we were going to have breakfast with Hi-5! 1, 2, 3, 4, Hi-5! My kids don’t watch much TV but on the occasions that the TV gets turned on, Hi-5 is one of their favourites. The group brings to the stage their unique blend of high energy song and dance which always gets kids on their feet singing and dancing along. I actually quite enjoy watching Hi-5 myself as the ... read more
English Nostalgia with The Wind in the Willows
A famous children’s classic, The Wind In the Willows certainly needs no introduction. As a child, Badger, Mole, Ratty and Toad were familiar faces as they appeared regularly in a stop-motion series that was screened weekly on TV. Those of you who are of my vintage, I’m sure you remember this show and its iconic theme song! I can still hum the tune in its entirety, though the lyrics now elude me. I have yet to introduce these well-loved characters to my children, so I was happy to get the ... read more
Crown Bakery & Cafe: Starting My Weekend Right
I love my husband but if there’s something about him that drives me bananas, it is his inability to wake up early in the morning. This usually comes to a head on weekend mornings when I wake up full of energy and raring to go and he can barely get his eyes open to acknowledge my impatient attempts to wake him up. Rather than get frustrated, my solution has been to whisk the kids out for breakfast on our own on such Saturday mornings. Noey would bring a book and Mei her art materials and we ... read more
Why We Love Swim Class {Giveaway Results}
It being the school holidays, that means there’s more time for play! We’re just catching our breath after coming back from Gold Coast, but once we do, I anticipate that we will be spending more time out in the sun. And if the weather holds out, more time in the pool. Big splash! Getting thrown is one of the highlights of class for the kids! I guess there’s just something about being in the water that just screams HOLIDAY! I know my two are looking forward to more pool time, especially my ... read more
Sailing Marina Bay with DBS
Whenever we are around the Esplanade or wandering near the Promontory, my kids would look longingly over the water, and inevitably, one or the other would ask me if we can go on a boat ride. I almost invariably say no. (Bad mummy, I know.) So you can imagine how surprised Noey was when, on an afternoon a couple of weeks ago, I told him that we were going to go sailing over Marina Bay. And not in a regular bumboat as he might expect. Oh no, we were going to go sailing over the water in a sail ... read more
