Like everyone else, we also spent some time walking the old KTM tracks before they were closed to the public.Noey was most excited when I told him about our little excursion. "We can pretend to be the Fat Controller!" he said, amongst other things.I feel no nostalgia for the discontinuation of the line except in one respect. Back when we were staying in our previous apartment, the railway line ran along one of the perimeter walls. When we first considered buying the place, that was in fact one ... read more
Survival Mode
Who left and put Mom in charge??Things have been a little crazy around here.Slightly over a week ago, my helper left for a month of home leave, leaving me at home with 2 little kids on my hands. Add to that the fact that my parents were away on a holiday for the past week, and DD is going through a busy period in the office, I have been more than a little stretched. However, God has been gracious -- I haven't been completely alone. My parents' helper has been coming over for most of the day over ... read more

Art(Science) Appreciation
After we finished with the Tang Treasures exhibition, Noey and I also spent some time checking out the other visiting exhibitions in the ArtScience Museum since the entrance fee gives you admission to all galleries. While I had made the trip to view the Tang treasures, the exhibition that I was most interested in was in fact the Van Gogh Alive exhibition. I do agree about the coffee!I love Van Gogh's works for their vibrant colours, strong images and the artist's distinctive and instantly ... read more
Swim!
Naomi went swimming for the 1st time two Saturdays ago, incidentally on the day she turned 4 months. In all honesty, it wasn't supposed to happen quite just yet. I'd intended to let her get in the pool for the first time around the time she turned 6 months old, and had just ordered her a swimsuit in anticipation. That Saturday, we had planned to go kite flying. In the end however, we were all feeling so hot that we decided that the pool was a better idea. And we felt bad leaving Nomi at home so ... read more
Four Months and Fabulous
Hello Sweetheart!Your brother calls you that sometimes because he likes to copy me, and it is my endearment of choice for you. It makes me smile when I hear him say it. Having gone through this once with your brother, I know what to expect but still take joy in the differences that make you, well, you. We've realised over the past few months that you like to talk. Tang Treasures at the ArtScience Museum
Noey and I went to the ArtScience Museum last Monday. It was a school holiday as it was Youth Day, so I decided to take the opportunity to bring him out for some Mummy-Noey time.Admiring the view of the city skyline from outside the museum. At least, I was admiring the skyline. Noey was more interested in the pond.I had brought him on many museum visits during Children's Season, but this one was more for me. It was for a personal reason that I really wanted to catch the Shipwrecked Tang ... read more
Kanten Play Clay Review and Giveaway!
Noey's recently become interested in playing with playdough, something that I enjoyed playing with a lot in my childhood. I remember hours of fun creating oodles of noodles, rolling out pancakes and cutting out cookies. (Yes, I was fond of food, skinny as I was.)As a Mum now though, I realise that I'm not that fond of most of the commercial formulations of playdough on the market. The thing that bugs me the most is the smell. Instantly recognisable as it is, it makes me wonder if the playdough ... read more
“I Don’t Want Mei-Mei!”
I realise that in my earlier post, I might have glossed over the fact that Noey has had to make huge adjustments since Naomi entered into our lives. While I think he is generally doing a good job of it, adjusting to having Mei-Mei around hasn't been easy for Noey. This is a boy who is super sticky to Mummy and who has the attention of both his parents, plus our helper, plus all his grandparents, all the time. To suddenly need him to share that has been trying for him."I don't love Mei-Mei!" he ... read more
Big Brother-Little Sister
When I knew I'd be having a second child, I hoped and prayed that my two kids would be close. Now, 4 months on, I think we're getting there. Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Mei-Mei?Despite his initial negativity, Noey has surprised us by being rather loving to his Mei-Mei once she arrived. A friend had warned me that sibling rivalry might be delayed and manifest itself around 12 weeks after the older child realises that the baby is around for good. I held my breath but thankfully, there ... read more
