It figures that just after I post about my oversupply issues, I would come down with a breast infection. I was too gung-ho (read: silly) about trying not to hold out and not pump too much in a bid to reduce supply and ended up with plugged ducts instead. On Wednesday night, I felt increasingly unwell while putting Noey to sleep. A quick check with the thermometer confirmed my fears -- I was running a fever of 38.1°C. On top of that, I was feeling aching and my there was a lump in my right boob ... read more
Man Yue
We had a little do just for family to celebrate the little girl's full month on Saturday. It was a simple affair and learning from the last time with Noey where it just passed us by, I actually managed to take some pics this time! The different favour boxes which were distributed to those who came on Saturday, as well as friends and colleagues. Cupcakes from ET Artisan Sweets and chocolate petit fours from Gobi. Birth announcements -- I was quite proud of these! Friends on facebook would have ... read more
Milkmaid
I took a peek in my scary freezer today and decided to count the number of bags of expressed breastmilk (EBM) I have in storage. Naomi is 1 month old today. She is fully breastfed, mostly directly, though I give her a bottle of EBM almost everyday, fresh from the day's pumping sessions. I pump only because I can't take the pain of engorgement, and I've tried to be careful not to empty my breasts so as to stimulate even more production. And still, the number of 3/4Oz (90-120ml) bags of EBM I have ... read more
4 Weeks On: Noah
4 weeks on, how are we doing?NoahOf our 2 children, Noey has, by far, been the trickier one to deal with. For this matter, I am grateful that Naomi hasn't been too difficult thus far as it has given us the much needed time and energy to manage our little son.Despite all our fears otherwise, Noey has shown himself to be a rather loving brother. He takes a keen interest in his Mei-Mei and is always trying to kiss her or grab her somehow. He has been endlessly fascinated with Naomi's wee baby ... read more
3 Weeks On: Naomi
3 weeks on, how are we doing?NaomiLittle Naomi has continued being a dream baby. She is still sleeping a lot, though she has gotten more wakeful as the days go by. By that I mean she now sleeps about 18 hours a day, rather than more than 20 hours a day in the initial days. Even after coming round practically everyday, her grandparents have barely seen her awake. In this respect, she definitely appears to take after her father! YAAAAAAAAWN!Of course, occasionally she chooses to take those awake ... read more
It’s a Wrap!
Just a shot of the Javanese wrap because I was quite fascinated by how my flabby mis-section was held in with those knots with just one very long strip of cloth! One of the best things about not being pregnant is getting to have massages again!Since I didn't get a confinement lady this time round, my post-natal massage sessions were the only thing I conscientiously researched and booked in advance. I had gotten the traditional Malay Jamu massage the last time round with Noey, and while I have no ... read more
Naomi’s Birth Story
Here's the birth story, while it's still fresh in my mind. If you've been following my blog, you'll probably know that I had my eye on 2 March for Naomi's birthdate. As such, when I when to bed on 1 March, I couldn't help but wonder if the next day would be D-Day. I have no doubt that my body took an unconscious cue from me, because I started feeling contractions in the middle of the night in the wee hours of 2 March. The problem was, I was awakened in the night, not so much by the ... read more
Gor-Gor Noey
One of the biggest questions -- and worries -- on our minds prior to Naomi's arrival was how Noey was going to take to her. As I've previously mentioned, he had never seemed too enthusiastic and could be counted on to make some uncomplimentary remark once in a while. We had confidence however that once Naomi was with us, Noey would be fond of her, given his generally loving nature. And I'm glad that our faith in our little son does not appear to have been misplaced.Giving Mei-Mei one of her first ... read more
First Days
It's been nearly a week since Naomi's arrival and I think we've all settled down nicely. Lil Naomi has -- thus far -- proven to be quite the fuss-free baby. Even in the hospital, the nurses called her a little angel cos she barely cried and was contented to keep snoozing away or looking at things in wide-eyed wonder. She's continued with that good behaviour at home. In fact, these few days, we barely notice that she's around since she's always sleeping. I realise, looking back that I had ... read more
She’s here!
I hit 39 Weeks yesterday.Just the night before, I was commenting (ok, complaining) to DD how we were moving into uncharted territory, since Noey was born at 38 weeks and 6 days. That very night, contractions started, and yesterday at 1313, our little Naomi came into this world.I look at her with her chubby cheeks and her little rosebud mouth, and I can feel myself falling in love again. The feeling is a little surreal -- it is not how I love Noey, not right now. Whereas I love Noey with a love ... read more
