Poor Noey is starting to discover that English really isn't that straight-forward afterall.Scenario 1While reading a book about a crocodile with a toothache, Noey happily repeated one of the lines: "Crocodile has a toothache!". Then, as if to show his understanding of what a toothache is, he pointed at the reddish stones in the same picture and said, "Red egg! Orange egg!"Erm, not quite, Noey.Scenario 2Me: "Noey, don't sit on that cushion. It's not very stable."Noey: "Like the thief on ... read more
Hitting the Right Note
Noey has been growing and changing bit by bit over the last few months, so much so that I have not been able to keep up with some of him milestones and record some of the incredibly funny things he says. This I have to note down though -- while rolling around in bed yesterday trying to get to sleep, Noey FINALLY sang his first song. With a discernible TUNE! And his choice for this momentous occasion? 祝你生日快乐! (An odd choice, if I may say so myself. Apparently his 姨婆 just taught him the song that ... read more
The Beginnings of an Elbow Addict
While going through the thumbdrive of birthday photos that DD handed over to me, I came across this gem of a pic of Noey with Sophie:Noey, elbow-addict, aged 7 months.See, I told you it's been an issue since forever! ... read more
Make it a Happee Day
After the rather sombre tone of my previous post, it actually seems like an appropriate time to mention the Happee Day Mini-Carnival -- the brainchild of Daphne of MotherInc.I can only imagine the intense pain and grief a family goes through when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer. All the more so when it is a child who is suffering the illness. This is where Happee Day comes in. Daphne is working with the Children's Cancer Foundation to organise a morning of fun for 30 children who are ... read more
Make Each Day Count
I'm feeling a little out of sorts today after receiving the shocking news that a church friend was, without warning, called home to the Lord today. He apparently suffered a heart attack while at work and passed on shortly thereafter. Somehow now doesn't feel like the time to be talking about all the birthday party madness. It will have to wait till later.Deacon Joseph was a quiet, unassuming man. I did not speak much to him beyond the usual casual conversation and pleasantries on the occasional ... read more
Noey, Age 2
Happy birthday Noey! And just like that, my baby is 2! We've had a busy couple of weekends (and weeks) with Noey 2 birthday parties -- the first with the dear Oct Babies the previous Saturday, and then with his own party on Saturday. It's been a couple of weeks of nostalgia as I try to grasp the thought that my baby is a little man now. It hit me particularly hard when DD and I came across some old videos of Noey taken about a year ago while DD was archiving stuff from his computer. (It was not a ... read more
Elbow Security Blanket: Update
DEATH GRIPIt's been about half a year since I first mentioned Noey's fondness for my elbow. In the months that have followed, I have realised, to my dismay, that his liking for it has not abated. If anything, it has intensified. This wouldn't be as bad I think if not for the fact that, by a quirk of nature, I happen to be a person who absolutely cannot stand excessive physical contact. I need my own space and I don't like people touching me unnecessarily. DD can't help but crack up when I ... read more
Chugga Chugga Choo Choo
A couple of weeks back, I took Noey on a playdate with a couple of other bubs from his Mandarin Playclub class. The other mums suggested Royce at Liang Court. I hesitated a bit because it was a bit of an expensive option -- you have to pay a $50 membership fee and then $12 an hour for playtime -- but I thought the variety of toys available there might be worth it, so I agreed, and that's where we went.So there we are, in essentially what is toy haven, and what does my dear son do? He flirts a ... read more
Some Things Are Just Irresistable…
The highlight of the move for DD was the fact that he would be getting his very own study. We gave up our study in our old apartment when Noey came along as the room was converted into Noey's room. Since then DD had to make do with working on the dining table when he had to work from home.So you can imagine his excitement, getting his own study this time.Of course it has meant that he's put up some of his prized possessions in his room. And of course that has meant that Noey would normally have ... read more
Our New Resident
I don't know if it's just me but it feels like EVERYONE around me is pregnant these days. I even have 4 friends due in early Feb.Well, guess what? I guess if you can't beat them, join them!Say hello to the soon-to-be newest addition to the family, who has (already) been causing me sleepless nights:The new bump, thus far uncreatively referred to as Baby #2, here at 12 weeks.I'm currently around 14 weeks and Baby#2 is expected in early March next year. And I'm kidding about having having a ... read more
