Polliwoging
A couple of weeks back, we had the opportunity to visit Polliwogs, not once, but twice in 2 consecutive weeks. Guess everyone had the same good idea at the same time! Our first trip was with little TYY and Anya. It was our first time there and I was suitably impressed, in particular with the open plan layout of the place. After having been to other rather claustrophobic and narrow play gyms, this was a refreshing change. The toddler area was also rather large and had a ball pit and a mini slide ... read more
And a New Door Opens…
We collected the keys to our new house today! And like the excited children that we are, we both escaped from work at the earliest opportunity and scurried down to put that key into the door of our new home and step in as new homeowners. It was a moment to savour. We poked around, sizing up the spaces and discussing some of the reno ideas that we'd been bouncing around the past couple of months. DD, armed with his camera, took a couple of shots -- the "before shots" which with serve as a reminder ... read more
A Father’s Day Tribute
It was love at first sight for DD when he laid eyes on the newborn Noey.He shrugged off advice he had heard from other well-meaning friends that fathers would take a longer time to bond with their baby than mothers, and was a doting father from the get go. He gamely learnt the ropes of bathing Noey from the confinement nanny and took over the task of giving Noey his daily bath every morning in the early months. He gave Noey his night bottle feed when he could. He took over weekend morning duties ... read more
Sharing Spaces
As an only child, Noey, as you can imagine, is not used to sharing. I try my best, occasionally taking over his toys but hey, sharing with Mummy who would give in to you if you asked and say please isn't really the same! It was therefore interesting (to me) to watch his interactions with other children during our recent church conference. Now, our church has LOTS of kids. We are a small congregation of about 200 souls, and easily a third of that number are kids. Most families have 2 or 3 kids, ... read more
The Annual Church Family Conference
It's been quiet around here for a bit as we headed up to Johor, M'sia in mid-week for our church's annual family conference. We had an enriching 4 days in fellowship with the brethren and attending the very "meaty" messages on the theme of Holiness. With such a broad and yet substantial theme, the topics of messages were, as our Camp Coordinator Deacon Moses commented, sufficient to constitute our conference themes for the next 6 years. They covered the following:The Holy Spirit's Work In Us ... read more
Weekly Snapshot: Salad Baby
Weird fact about Noey: He loves his vegetables. Like seriously.Being a meat lover myself, I find it rather bizzare that Noey is actually more willing to try the vegetables offered to him than meat. He seems to like them better as well!At a recent barbeque, he merrily chowed down piece after piece of romaine lettuce from the waldorf salad. And he showed that it wasn't a fluke when he merrily ate the lettuce when I repeated the salad for a weekday dinner, and asked for more. Hmmmm, maybe he likes ... read more
Kick-Off of the Jabulani
The World Cup is upon us again. This year however, unlike in previous years, I am not prepared. I haven't been following news on the teams and the friendlies that have been played, not had discussions on the form book, the favourites and the underdogs. I don't know the fixtures, the groups or even who all the teams playing are!Tsk tsk. I think this is because I now work in an all-female department with ladies who couldn't care less about football, even if it is the world cup. The rest of the time ... read more
Beach Boy: Rehabilitated
It seemed wrong to be on Sentosa and not hit the beach at least once. So on the morning we due to check out of Capella, we took a walk down to catch some sun and surf.It wasn't without some trepidation that we headed down. Afterall, the last time we were on the same beach, Noey had refused to step on the sand. But he was very keen on going this time round, repeatedly showing me his spade and going "dig!" very earnestly when I mentioned hitting the beach. As it turned out, somewhere in the last ... read more
To the Library we go…
'Twas a rainy afternoon yesterday and on the spur of the moment, inspired partly by the desire to avoid being cooped up with Noey at home the whole day, the boy and I made a trip to the Clementi Community Children's Library.I was actually checking the National Library's website to see if there was any other library closer to my home than the Queenstown Public Library, since the latter is still quite a trek away. The answer, as far as public libraries are concerned, is no, unfortunately. But I ... read more
