Our plane ride to Hong Kong was Noey's 2nd flight and it definitely made more of an impression on him than his 1st flight to Perth, particularly since he has, in the intervening period developed a real interest in planes."Air-pae!", he would declare repeatedly when he hears the rumble of planes overhead. He would also obligingly swoosh his hand around (complete with sound effects) when you ask him how an airplane flies. Needless to say, he got quite excited by the planes on the tarmac and when ... read more
Wheels Go Round and Round
Noey absolutely loves buses. I've no idea why -- perhaps it's the little boy fascination with all things big and noisy. He will point out virtually every bus he sees on the road with excited declarations of "Baa Baa!". And he would repeat it most times till you confirm that yes, it was a bus he saw.He would even rouse himself from sleep to do this. Once we were driving home, watching as we waited to see him drop off to sleep. Alas, we came to a halt at a traffic light junction next to a bus. DD ... read more
SIN-HKG-SIN
Back from our mid-week holiday to Hong Kong and I'm feeling like I need another holiday to recover from this one!The days when we used to touch down on Sunday night and return to work on Monday morning are far behind us, I'm afraid. Things are more than a little different when we're travelling with one additional little being in tow. And a demanding one at that.Still, it was good to get away, just the 3 of us. Noey certainly enjoyed himself. I guess with a comfortable hotel room which he was ... read more
Fearfully & Wonderfully Made
One of the real joys of having a child is watching them grow and develop day by day into a real person. (Of course they are real people from the word go, but you know what I mean.) I am constantly amazed by how a child's mind learns and processes information. Like this morning when Noey clambered over to our tissue box and examined the picture on the side, which was a drawing by a primary school student in a Beautex art competition, and identified the birds drawn as "Bird!". I managed to find ... read more
Bookworm-To-Be
Noey has come a long way from the days when he used to think of his books as snacks. These days, his books are his favourite source of entertainment. He definitely prefers them to toys. After he's done wandering around our room after he wakes up, he would frequently head straight for his bookshelf in his room and pull out his books. Then we would hear some silence for a bit, punctuated by occasional declarations of words which he knows: "Bird! Apple! ("AHH-per") Baby! Baa-Baa! (which usually ... read more
Airport Activities
We headed to T3 for a dinner catch-up cum playdate on Saturday. Yes, T3! Everyone who heard about our dinner destination was a bit mystified but really, it was just that we wanted to avoid the weekend crowds in town and decided to try somewhere new. Plus we were guaranteed space for the kids to run around, which to me is always a good thing. So to T3 we went.Except, we found, to our surprise, that the airport was really teeming with people! Probably as a result of a combination of the holiday ... read more
The 4 Do Noey’s
Sometimes it feels like my son has more of a social life than I do.Last weekend was playdate weekend for Noey. First up was an afternoon with the October Babies on Friday.Totally forgot to get the kids to take a group shot so this would have to do!All 4 bubs have grown so much since the last time we met up during their joint birthday party. They are all now adept walkers and so playdates certainly aren't as sedentary for us Mummies as they used to be. Instead, they all took turns (with Noey ... read more
Wet & Wild
Water play areas have been burgeoning in Singapore -- from the malls to the zoo, there are more and more of these little areas being created for little kids to just run around and make merry. I think it's great cos with our usually sweltering weather, a splash in cool waters is just the perfect antidote. We made a short trip to Vivo City on Saturday after DD had bought himself a pair of comfy Crocs slippers (which he is still very enthusiastic about), we spent most of our time messing around in ... read more
My Little (Talking) Tai-Tai
Noey absolutely loves my handbag. If I don't stop him, he would happily rummage through it any chance he gets and the first thing he'd reach for is my wallet. There'd be coins, cards and cash strewn around if I don't catch him in time! But in addition to this, Noey knows that when I grab my handbag, it's time to say goodbye and make a move out the door. So on Friday, he decided to grab a bag and do the same himself, especially since he has recently added "Bye!" to his vocabulary. You can see ... read more
Our Spanish Cookyn Party
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to go a-Cookyn with Mervyn, and I brought along the family! Ok, not quite the family you'd have expected -- I'm definitely not brave nor foolhardy enough to bring my super active little rascal for a cooking class. Instead, Noey was left to his own devices at home while my Mum, sister and her boyfriend accompanied me to cook up (and eat) some Spanish treats. The menu for the afternoon was:Wild Spot Prawn CervicheChorizo and Fingerling Potato BakeSquid Ink Paella ... read more
